I have Stihl Chaps, 6 Ply. I think that they made 2 thickness, the other being heavier than the 6-ply. I went with the chaps because their cooler in the warm weather over the pants. so far so good.... knock on wood!

the cord you need is #8- 2 conductor, SOOW cord which will fit all your requirements. its oil, water resistant and suited for outdoor use. you can wire it directly into the panel and/ or put the correct plug ends on as needed. look at McMaster-Carr for it.

I would go with a salamander type heater, burns diesel, heat can be directed exactly where you need it.
I have one and use it when working on my snowmobile club’s Pisten Bully groomers in mid winter with no barn or garage. Just blow the hot air under the machine and it melts the ice and snow.
