M4500 Hydraulic problem, brake disc replacement

You're right, your 4500 doesn't have a suction screen. The "canister filter" on the right side of the tractor at about the rear of the engine +/- is the screen. It is a VERY fine mesh, there's a magnet up the center of it too. The relief valve is in the auxiliary control valve assembly on the...

Regard to check chains or 3 pt stabilizers

Now that is a 3-point that's been seriously abused. I'm trying to figure out exactly how the down links can get bent up that bad and nothing was broken. Try Tractor Supply, Rural King or someplace similar for universal down links. They usually have something in stock for less than that.

Bad alternator? What do you guys think?

I'm supposing you checked the running voltage at something more than an idle. I know on my M4500 it won't start charging until after the engine goes past 15-1700 the first time (it'll then charge even at idle after that).

    Yes..another newbie owner post.

Put water in it and see if it will start. No big deal to fix a water pump if it runs and doesn't have water in the exhaust or oil. Dad had a 63 1/2 when I was little - black. I cried when he sold that car (a gear-head even as a little kid!) If you're going to scrap it.... drop it all off in...

    R-4 or R-1(Ag) for Plowing w/L2501

So this is a 2500 lb. +/- tractor with 18 drawbar HP (as tested) with four wheel drive. Assuming your tires are in acceptable condition and that the plow is adjusted properly. And since you've already indicated you have extra ballast added. There are only two possible issues. Either your tractor...

    cylinder sticks/stops

Ditto what Wolfman said. Chased a problem on a 1 year old 1590 JD no-till drill for a week one time just to discover it was a bad coupler. It'd be rare to have a bad one on each pair of remotes though.

    PTO Operation

I have a 1982 M4500, same PTO set-up. You will not use the "ground" pto. no reason to with any implement you'll buy in the US. On the under seat lever the center position is neutral (no working PTO of any kind), pulled forward should be Ground, pushed backward should be Live. To operate the PTO...

    CCA vs MCA

I've had a deep cycle marine battery in my M4500 for over 6 years now (knock on wood) and it's been trouble free. The slow discharge rate is nice when I forget to shut the key off and the dash lights stay on overnight.

    M4500 year manufactured

Yeah, the 1982 date comes from the City's paperwork. It had all of 900 hours on it when I bought it just over 6 years ago. It hadn't been moved for 5 years and we put a battery in it, started it, and drove it on the trailer. I don't find the controls too strange compared to Massey, David Brown &...

    M4500 year manufactured

Mine is supposedly a 1982 by their records.

    M4500 year manufactured

I have M4500-10046 Thought I had the original delivery information to the City of Columbus, that had the dates on it, but I can't seem to find it. Good little tractor. Brakes are barely passable, but other than that no real complaints. Heavier drivetrain and chassis than you'll get on a new...

    Main bearing

Try turning it around. On my S2600 motor there is a "front" and a "Back" for each bearing case. Make sure both halves of the bearing carrier are facing the right direction when you bolt it together. I think My WSM says the Japanese symbols on the carrier halves should face the flywheel. I know...

    M4700dt 3 point not functioning

Assuming it is more or less the same as my M4500 then yes, the spool valve assembly that controls the 3 point is inside the transmission. Send me an e-mail and I'll scan and send you the Troubleshooting Flow chart for the 3 point from my WSM. I think you have to have the top of the case off to...

    Slips out of 5th gear

So this isn't just necessarily a Kubota problem. Usually, it is one of two or three things. 1). Gear wear that causes the gear to walk back against the other, most often a problem in sliding gear transmissions, uncommon in syncro-mesh/ring shifted style transmissions. 2). & more likely, a...

    F2000 puzzle

Not real familiar with that tranny, but most HST's have a charge pump. That "could" be the issue but normally letting it sit and idle wouldn't help that after it is warmed up good. Unless the charge pump is sucking air at full load. It sounds like your fluid is foaming/getting air mixed in it...

    I am so bummed

If 33 was the low and you had some rain with it and the bloom didn't get knocked all off you may be ok. It will depend a little on the variety. I'm dreading the same here tonight in Central Ohio. Just finished a fungicide application... thinking positive!

    Mechanical problem with plow

You also normally need to have the sway links (they are chains with a turnbuckle on many Kubota tractors) loose on a 3 point hitch plow so that it will swing back and forth some. That way it will self center behind the tractor if all else is adjusted properly. My International Harvester 3 bottom...

In other words 2.992 = new (or same as), up to 2.998 = useable (maybe/sort-of) 2.999 = worn out

    L225 Piston Liner

In Kubota Vernacular - Reference Value & Allowable Limit For example on my M4500 valve stem to guide clearance reference value = 0.0016 to 0.0028. Allowable limit = 0.0039. So... new or rebuild shoot for somewhere inside the reference value range, when simply reassembling old or re-using you can...
