BX23S - Chop The ROP Bar.

JB Weld worked GREAT to skim coat. It block sands nicely. I spread the final couple low spots this morning. I'm real pleased with how it turned out.

BX23S - Chop The ROP Bar.

I considered buying another factory upper half, then decided to play doctor instead. It worked out as planned. All said and done, I'll scuff the whole upper section., prime and paint. Once done, no one will know.

BX23S - Chop The ROP Bar.

I dance to the beat of a different drum...lol. The ROP Bar, I expected it to be a minimum of 3/16" thick, it was 1/8". Making the plugs was somewhat tricky. Once inserted, I used a small piece of 1/4" for a spacer at the joints, then placed narrow pieces of flat bar on the sides and face to...

BX23S - Chop The ROP Bar.

I recall seeing that image. It's not very clear, but it works for visuals. I painted all the structures on my property this Summer. When I backed into the header after, it wasn't a good feeling. It bothered me so much, I made a sign on white plastic cardboard. It looked good, but never worked...

    VEVOR welding table

I have SSQA Forks. I'm on the lookout for a piece of grating as a welding table. Meaning, I plan to tack some rectangle tubing to the grating so I can pick it up, and so it doesn't shift once it's picked up. I'm getting squeezed for space, so the welding table will stay outside when not in use.

BX23S - Chop The ROP Bar.

There was never an issue with the ROP tilted back, my issue was remembering to fold it back when I was driving into my garage. Besides, having to deal with the continual...put the ROP up<>Put the ROP down....WHOOPS, I forgot again, I eliminated my frustrations.

BX23S - Chop The ROP Bar.

The ROP Bar is done. Now I can leave it up!! There are a few low spots that I'll get some auto body finish putty for. Gotta be smooth before I prime and paint.

BX23S - Chop The ROP Bar.

BX23s - CHOP THE ROP Height shortened 4-1/2" Drilled and sleeved (from the piece removed. Thought I'd share. Halved in all directions. I used the piece I removed, to make an internal sleeve. Drilled a few holes so I can weld the sleeve to the bar, top and bottom. I'll post more pics...

Scored at the Metal Recyclers today

I welded a lot back in the day using a buzz box. I never cared for stick welding, really. I eventually sold it, and my torch outfit. Time passed on 15 yeats or so. Then I got a Hobart 120 Handler, as my introduction to MIG. It worked OK on (up to) 3/16" but it struggled with consistency. Given...

I've currently got a garden trailer I want to do some customization too, a 60 gallon air compressor/lawn roller project. An Aerator (convert to 3PH) and a 2-place aluminum snowmobile trailer I want narrowed. <-- That's going to get done by a friend. Oh, and I need to make a frame to support my...

Scored at the Metal Recyclers today

I tell you what, buying new or remnants from local fab shops sure takes a BITE out of my wallet. Same said for getting any welding, modifications or general fabrication done, when shop rates are $150/hr. All said, doing it myself adds to my being more self reliant. I just don't have all the...

Scored at the Metal Recyclers today

I scored some angle iron today, I wasn't expecting. I had to go home and get my trailer...lol. All 20ft sticks 1/4" × 2-1/2" × 3-1/2" = 240' And 3/16" × 1-3/4" × 1-3/4" = 120' $311 Unfortunately 5ft had to be cut off each set of six, because they were dragging the ground. They were bolted...

    Revamped Snow Plow Mount

All clamped, then I threw a blanket over the front, tacked at all ends of each piece, removed, then welded it up. MIG .35 wire I ran out of .28 tips for my smaller wire.

And yet another DIY canopy idea...

I've been on the hunt for something to make a top, since last year. I have seen a couple, but they were too far away. Slim pickings on the West Coast!

    Revamped Snow Plow Mount

Due to a clearance issue (FEL landing gear "cross-brace" was hitting the mounts ears) all welds were cut apart and ground off back to flat edges. Mocking it up again. After a bit of resizing, welding it back together. Primed, painted, and back in-place. No more clearance issue.

BXpanded "Quick-On" and 24" BH Bucket added

I've hand dug several times, in several areas to depths of 5ft plus by 4ft wide. There has been an occasional baseball size smooth stone. Around the foundations and French drain systems I've found larger. For the most I don't foresee a problem. I'll swap to the stock bucket as necessary.
