Any use for a cracked head from 4630?

Hello All. I had the head replaced on my 2004 L4630 last week. Anyone have a use for the old one? Small crack in back right corner. Or is this destined for the scrap heap?

    No heat L4630

Well, the new head is installed and all is well. The engine sounds better running now than it has for the whole 4 years I've owned it. Even a few small things buttoned up along the way like the injectors had been leaking, now taken care of. DK Engine Parts was really good to work with. They...

    No heat L4630

Well, AFTER we changed the gasket (12 hours total) we discovered the head has a hairline crack in the back corner. Added some Bars for now and the new head is on its way. Could not detect the crack while the head was off.

I am blessed to know a diesel mechanic who is willing to replace the head gasket for me. He said he will stop by Saturday to get whatever numbers he needs off the engine to order the gasket. I'm keeping a close eye on the dipstick in the meantime, before and after use. We are just getting...

Thanks DustyRusty. I did not get a chance to try the dye or even get time to check things out this summer. I was able to let it run longer this morning (4 bars on the temp gauge). The heater core did get warm. I saw no evidence of leaks up top (heater core, hoses, etc...). So, I took a...

    Radiator cap L4630 (2007)

Hello, Been trying to determine where my antifreeze goes. Never any on the shop floor. A mechanic buddy suggested a new radiator cap. I had just discovered that it was usually wet around the neck of the radiator fill spout prior to me adding antifreeze so this might be where its leaking...

I had a minute to scroll through some pics I have of my back tires. Looks like they are R-4.

That is one of my prized possessions, a Super Split wood splitter. I’ve had both their electric and gas model (that’s the gas model in the pic).

Quick question on tire pressure. I helped a buddy load a log, maybe 28" diameter today. I noticed front "drivers side" tire was low. I had a compressor and no gauge so I just added air till it looked "full." I put the tractor in the shop after and checked front tire pressure. It was 26.5...

    Chains?

Just an update. Very happy with the chains and the Skid-pro plow. We did get hammered with 18-20" of snow over two days. I've never had chains before, what a difference. I was able to back up a hill running the rear blower. Before I could only run the blower going down the hill. Put some...

National Weather Service is predicting a lot of snow the next 48 hours. Just in time to put the new Skid Pro plow through its paces.

Thanks Henro. I had to remove about 2/3 of a hexagon to make them work but it went pretty smooth. I have some spare parts now : )
