Has anyone filled their tires with fluid and regretted it?

I didn’t do it but the 8n I had the previous owner loaded the tires. It was fine since I only used it for grunt work but I passed on getting it when I bought my LX. I prefer to just have my 525 pound box blade on the rear for ballast that I can remove when not needed.

Too Steep for a B01 or Even a BX?

Get whatever tractor you think best suits your tractor needs and skip the MMM. For the price of the MMM you can find a solid used commercial ZTR and never look back. I resisted similar advice years ago and was more wrong than I was for marrying my 1st ex. 😬

If you have the need a grapple is a real game changer. Congrats!

    Yet Another Woodchipper Thread (MX-8600)

In my offer I pointed out that $3300 was the new price. My offer was $2250 which I figured was a bit low but a reasonable starting point considering the issues with buying unknown used equipment. I’ve seen used ones sell for $1500-$2k but I haven’t been quick enough to snag one. They even seem...

    Yet Another Woodchipper Thread (MX-8600)

Yesterday I did a search for used machines and there’s a tractor dealer in PA. with a used 3 year old WoodMaxx WM-8H for $3900. I messaged them with a low yet reasonable offer considering it’s unknown history, new price, and the likelihood that a new set of blades, a fluid change and other...

Snowblowing and working music, what’s your playlist?

I’ve been on a Volbeat kick lately and original Motorhead lineup tunes. Other than that lotsa murder podcasts.

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

That looks nice but seeing as how I’ve banged up my grill protector I’d definitely rip that off in short order.

    Yet Another Woodchipper Thread (MX-8600)

The LX is perfect for the vast majority of my needs and a larger machine would mostly be zero benefit or a hinderance so I can’t foresee an upgrade in my future. If it was all hardwood that I’m dealing with I’d do a massive burn pile for the twigs and have firewood for most of the rest of my...

    Yet Another Woodchipper Thread (MX-8600)

I am deciding, finally, on my chipper purchase in the next few days. As I casually shopped for the past few months I was flopping back and forth between the Woodland Mills WC68 and the WoodMaxx WM-8H and I was leaning towards the WoodMaxx……might as well go big. Now that I am actually ready to...

Talk me out of buying a Woodmax WM8H

Woodland Mills is hydraulic feed as well. They were actually my front runner but the more I’ve read recently the WoodMaxx with it’s heavier flywheel may be the better choice for my meager 19 PTO horsepower. The price difference is negligible and each have features I prefer but if the WoodMaxx...

Talk me out of buying a Woodmax WM8H

This thread got me back off the fence and I’m probably ordering within the next week of so. Not sure between the Woodland Mills and WoodMaxx yet. I’ve cleared my trails of downed trees ( over 100 from a tornado) and have many large piles of branches around the property. I got knocked back into...

Talk me out of buying a Woodmax WM8H

I hate to say it but I kinda agree that in your situation a wood chipper may not be the best use of your funds. I have 11-ish acres with about 1/3 of it wooded. I can definitely justify it but still haven’t pulled the trigger.

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

I installed the Kubota 3rd function on my LX. Took me the better part of an afternoon. Very straightforward but my tires aren’t loaded. I understand your concern but for what my dealer wanted to install it I’d still take the risk. Plenty of good grapples to be had. I wouldn’t be too concerned...

    New Tractor 5 acres

I would agree that the grapple and 3rd function will set you back about $3k (probably closer to $3.5k). I couldn’t do what I need to in a reasonable time without it though so for me it was money well spent. Up to you if it is worth it for your needs. Bucking, cutting to size and dragging is...

    New Tractor 5 acres

Professional forester and/or internet busy body I don’t care. I said nothing about getting “a 5 foot tractor in between trees”. I said “tight spots in wooded areas”. See the difference? Much more comes into play maneuvering through a forest than JUST the spacing of trees…….rocks, roots...
