    I doubt there are Any ”brass gears” in the front axle of a Kubota. There might be some in a mechanical clock.

    Gear oil smells like Garlic to me. It’s not sulfur in the oil (tho’ some folks relate that)…it’s Extreme-Pressure additives (mostly phosphates) that smell.

    My first thought was that perhaps it wasn’t a fuel leak at all…but perhaps some spilt or a drip of oil from somewhere else that happened to land on the fuel lines.
