    Thats a fine rifle. I had one also and took it hunting a couple times but never had the opportunity to take a deer with it.

    Yes a thumper for sure! I sold my 3 45-70's after having a total shoulder replacement! I didnt want to break anything!

    Yeah I have got into that runaway downhill before with a few hay bails on the FEL and no weight on the back! Drop the FEL to the ground to regain control!

    No problem here, but mine is 2017 vintage. Not sure if there was a change on the BX23S-1? Im also not a light weight so im sure that helps!

    Nice SBL! The 45 colt cowboy was my first Marlin that started an addiction of over 50 Marlins octagons round ported I had to have them all and almost did! Thats where my screen name came from! I also had the 45-70 addiction! Marlin 1895 Cowboy, GBL, and cant remember that last model 18" octagon...

    Ken they are all the correct Lyman peeps for each rifle! They are stamped bottom side ,all sights are slightly different for each rifle. I have also owned a few period scpes and Lyman flip front sights also. I have to tell you I sold my collection off before I retired. I only have a few rifles...

    I pressure wash my tractor maybe twice a year being careful around the dash! I use just a garden hose to rinse under the hood.
