    conventional oil is dead?

That is the reason my wife agreed to HVAC in the shop. She didn't want me bringing vehicles or engines into the house any more.

    conventional oil is dead?

Ended up finding it at O O O O'Reilly Auto Parts. It is STP oil. Probably same as the Fram that I detest 😄 It's a generator, so I'm skipping the additive and just using the oil for 10 hours or so. On race engines, I'll use conventional + Liqui Moly additive for an hour in the dyno. Then swap to...

    conventional oil is dead?

I like a road trip, but Canada is a little far 😉

    conventional oil is dead?

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm going to hit O'Reilly today. They supposedly have some. The local mower shop uses break in additive which I could do (and have used before on motorcycle engines). That ain't cheap. It's just a little engine. The post was more out of amazement that you can't just...

    conventional oil is dead?

I'm not that old. Well, from my own perspective. I do recall being able to go damn near anywhere to buy a quart of 10w40 for a buck or two Anyway....just rebuilt a 1000cc generator motor. New pistons, rings, valve stem seals and various other bits. The issue is not the rebuild. The issue is...

    LandGlide app

I like the idea of a brake rotor! I do know where most of the pipes are set. Went through that last winter. This winter the plan is to walk the lines and paint some trees. I'm cutting trails for MX bikes and don't want to overstep into another's property. We have also had hunters "mistakenly"...

    LandGlide app

Git has. Mm Gotcha. The term pin can be can be confused with Property Identification Number. Since I know where most of those are, shooting it with my prismatic compass is easy. The original survey has the bearings and distance. I was being lazy since some areas are heavily wooded.

    LandGlide app

When you say pin, do you mean the pipe driven into the ground? I know where 4 of them are. That's why I was saying I can just use my compass to find the property line. I just thought I could make it easier with the app. I don't have a true GPS though. Just 2 phone based ones. They appear to be...

    LandGlide app

Yeah, us too. I have 11x14 copies of the survey that make navigation that much easier. Sort of like taking Bastogne in WWII but with Pantera playing at 11 and a beer in the ATV cup holder. OK, it's nothing like it 😆. But with a magnetic north heading and the Plat it's easy enough. If I can do...

    LandGlide app

That's what I had used previously, but g00gle maps does not show property lines in satellite view in my area. At one point it did, but no longer. Good thing the app has a free trial. I can get closer to the line using basic navigation skills and the headings on our Plat.

    LandGlide app

I know there are other apps. My question is specifically for those that use, or have tried this one. How far off have you found the property lines to be? Old house- the fence is 1 foot inside the surveyed property line. This app shows it several feet over the line. Current home- shows an...

Wow have welding gas prices gone up.

Wow. That's what the big box are selling it for here. Granted, it's Halloween season so all the Ken's and Karen's are sticking them on their porch for decoration. Still.... $4/ bale last fall when I did a ton of work to the lawn. $7 per just the other day. Edit- that's straw. Not sure what hay...

Wow have welding gas prices gone up.

All I can say is the price if a bale of straw hasn't gone up that much. Only a 70% increase over last year.

Attn. HVAC pros..........Is someone "blowing sunshine up my skirt"?

If i remember the old days, L or ACR is what you want. They may be stamped or color coded. It's been a while, but I think blue is the refrigeration identifier. ACR is just cleaned and capped L copper.

What Are These Vents For Besides letting Mice In?

I had no idea there was such a thing until 10 years ago. My parents had their porch re screened (it was screened in when they bought the place 20 years ago). My dad, being the guy that hates doing things twice, opted for SS screen. $$$ big time. But it held up to all the critters that wanted in...

Attn. HVAC pros..........Is someone "blowing sunshine up my skirt"?

Put the torch down, bro. 😆 The metallurgy between the two is different. As is the reaction to heat. ACR copper is high purity metal. Use plumbing copper and you risk rupture of the pipe. Even if that doesn't happen, the impurities in plumbing copper may not react well to the refrigeration oil...

I seriously considered using rotors myself. Did the brakes on the truck and had four 50-60 lb rotors sitting there.
