    L1500DT 4x4 System

Good to hear that worked out. I hadn't checked back in on this thread, so I thought I would. My problem was a grenaded 4x4 gear box. Someone had beaten the gears up and took them out to keep using it as a 2wd. Really explains the crud that was in the hyd. filter. Anywho, Southern Global helped...

    School me, please!

OK, good suggestions, but I'm cheap. That's one of the reasons I am looking at older B's. So really, what do I need to look for in them and are there any models to steer away from? My uncle has a 6100 2 wheel drive, gear tranny. I have always loved that thing so that's where some of the interest...

    School me, please!

Fair enough. Mowing would be this machine's primary job, with anywhere from 2 to 4 acres. My L1500DT has a bucket and is typically the primary snow/material mover. I would be perfectly happy if it could adequately run a post hole digger or bush hog off the back, but not necessary. I want...

    School me, please!

OK, all. It's been a while but I am here again. I love my old Ingersoll garden tractor, but it's a bit small for me these days. I also love my grey L1500DT. With that in mind, I am keeping an eye out for a b5100/6100/7100 or relatives to do my mowing with. What do I need to know and are they the...

Advice on New Compact Track Loader

Never operated a Kubota skid steer. Caterpillar is my favorite so far. New Holland would be the bottom of the pile, in my opinion.

    8x16 vs 7.5x16

I would stick with the OEM size. You may run the risk of changing ratios for the 4wd, but I doubt its enough to be concerned about. What will happen is decreased traction in muddy situations. I realize that size can be hard to come by. Check out Miller Tire. I believe they have a website and...

    Checklist for Inspecting Used Tractor

You're going to find that the oil will be black, there will be scratches or dents, and that you probably don't have the tools to do a compression check on a diesel. Check out the tractor. Drive it, operate everything. Dig with it if you can. So long as everything works as it should, chances are...

    L1500DT PTO Question

Anyone know right off what size the pto shaft on my L1500DT is? I need to know what size slip clutch to get for it and if that is the same size as any implements I will use on it. Thanks!

    Broken Head Bolts

Give beverage tractor in Virginia a call. They keep a set of manuals for some Grey Market machines and have been a huge help with my L1500DT. http://beveragetractor.com/ The manuals are written in Japanese, but the part numbers are good, so the IPL's are still helpful and they will fax you...

    GR2120 in my future?

Have you sat on one? I have not operated one, personally, but I did track down the one at work and looked over it. The power steering is very nice, but the steering wheel was very low for me to be comfortable. Either way, good luck!

    GR2120 in my future?

What all are you intending to do with the tractor? Both the options are quite salty. I know the 2120 lists at over $9000. It may be possible to get a larger, lightly used machine for not much, if any more money. In passing glance, the Deere looks bigger to me.

    How popular are sub-compacts???

Interesting stuff, all this. I have been told by some sellers that my Grey L1500DT with FEL would be better than $6000 on the left coast, and still better than $3500 here in the east. The benefit I have is that i purchased mine for $450 from a gentleman with a broken front stub shaft. I would...

    Engine Oil - Gray Market

I have an L1500DT and use a 15w40 diesel oil. Think Rotella or the like.

installing live hydraulics on an L1501

It would be nice if they were that similar. The four wheel drive system is completely different on mine. The block on mine isn't a priority valve, its a diversion block. I believe full flow goes through the hose, to the loader valve, back down another hose to the block and then on to the rear...

    L 1500 Clutch finally gone...

No, it's not. There are a lot of interchangable parts, but the biggest differences lie in the trasmission. The 1500 has a four speed PTO and the DT uses a completely different four wheel drive system than the North American models. I believe I read somewhere that the castings for the...

installing live hydraulics on an L1501

I have an L1500DT with a loader. It has a fairly factor looking box mounted behind the operator's right foot that basically interrupts the pressure line. the pressure out side of the block goes out through a hose to my loader control valve. Then a hose goes from the loader valve back to the...

installing live hydraulics on an L1501

I think there is some confusion here about what live hydraulics are. Live hydraulics just means that the hydraulic system is independent of other systems on the machine, i.e., the PTO or transmission do not have to be engaged in order to allow the hydraulic system to work. With that said, I...

    ZL2000FD hydraulic testing

What have you ruled out? I would say its safe to assume you are having hydraulic system issues since both ends have problems. Are the hydraulics jumpy or noisy? Have you checked to level and condition of the hydraulic fluid? Have you changed the hydraulic fluid filter? All of these are much...
