@g_man : Precision work, impressive (y)

I have to cut a dead tree as well, but I have no anchoring stump where I want it to fall. No suitable tractor with winch either :giggle:
Well, I'm pretty sure you will be able to get it down :) I remember the picture of your beautiful driveway job up above - It didn't seem there were many trees. Very open nice country side !!

Well, yes, I think I will get it down, but to prevent it falling onto an apple tree is the problem.

And yes, there are trees, I planted about 2500 of them. :giggle:

Finally took the phone with me as I moved the chickens this morning. Eating machines. The HF quick hitch is right at home pulling the chicken house

I used the L3901DT to move our walk behind tiller from the shed to the garage to change the oil and check it out before I need to use it. A lot faster then starting the tiller and moving it that way.

Thankfully we received rain Thurs/Friday this week. Enough to fill up my pond project. Phase one of the project is done. Phase 2 will have to wait again.

After riding today, I did some track maintenance. Pulled the box blade around some more with the scarifiers all the way down but the blade just grazing the surface. Like to do it after a rain if possible. Once a week in both directions seems to keep the weeds down and dirt loose. Beats $2-3k for a used tiller.

Almost 85 hrs on the 3902 and still no regen. I usually run it around 2k rpm while doing dirt and loader work.

Took a tier off one of my retaining walls because the ground settled behind it and these weren't doing anything. I need to rebuild the wall at some point but its fine for now. They're quite heavy so I was lazy and used the tractor of course.

I really need to do something about this stone wall that is collapsing and I have no idea what to do because large retaining blocks are crazy expensive around here and I want to do it on a budget.

PXL_20250921_164930140.jpg

Any help with ideas would be appreciated because I have absolutely no idea. Retaining blocks sold at like Lowes/Depot are not designed for this height which next to the house is like 6 feet. This wall when I moved here was perfectly straight, we had earthquake years ago and it caused it to collapse and its been slowly sliding down ever since. Yesterday I removed approx 5 feet of the stones to shorten it as it didn't need to be that long anyways.

PXL_20250921_215039785.jpg

Last week I painted the garage doors, I think it looks a lot better and yesterday afternoon I used the bucket to lightly resurface in front of the garage to give it a nice clean look.

Did some range road repair yesterday. Previous owner thought that it was a good idea to make a road base out of pallets and fence sections . So after tearing the road up to eliminate the ground hornets nest I decided to fix it for good. I ran out of stone so I'll wait until we get a few good rains to settle things a bit more, If we ever get some rain that is. It'll do for now.

Start- buried pallets are a blast.

That is not being lazy, that is working smart!
Lazy would be carrying them and complaining of your being back sore because you were too lazy to get the tractor out!
It is a good return on an investment!

I miss your down in the trenches stories and pictures.
It often reminded me of my years working in the building trades, being in a trench for plumbing or utility . I really liked doing electrical services best.

@nerwin

For a retaining wall they make larger blocks similar to what you moved that will go well above 6 feet high. I would think what you have would stack that high really and be secure.

You may need to add some deadman retention back into the slope and tie into the wall to prevent it from falling?

For a stone wall you would need larger (cut?) stone to stack up and have a greater lean into the hill for it to be stable.

For anything you will need to add a good drainage system behind and through the wall to keep the pressure off the wall.

You might want to think of installing a second wall back a few feet and a shorter wall where you want to end, having a flower bed between the walls around waist high?

It gave me something to look forward to besides my "real" job...The company was sold to another owner and I didn't go along with it.

Got my tilt cylinder from FitRite today. 10 minute job to pin it on and find some hoses to test drive it. Slick! Really quality work, many thanks to whomever put me onto them.

Do need to do a little sittin' , starin', and head-scratchin' to decide the best way to route the hoses and then have some made to length.

The instructions suggested swapping the manual adjustable link to the other side which made sense, but it puts the retainer clip for the ratchet handle on the back side. I'll cut that off and weld it back on the front tomorrow.

Didn't I just see you taking blocks off another retaining wall? Surely you use those for at least part of this, and then perhaps dry stack the remaining stone on top or beside? (Perhaps use the solid blocks to make a couple of pillars, then dry stack the other stones in between?)

Installed with temporary hoses. The lower remote is currently connected to outlets on the loader cross-bar that are for my thumb. I pop them out when using the hydraulic top link.

I need to do three things: Determine how long the hoses for the tilt cylinder need to be, fabricate a way to stow the connectors to the front remotes when not in use and (as mentioned) flop the ratchet handle clip on the mechanical link so it faces the rear. Thinking I'll use longer bolts on the block and mount some dummy receptacles on the top. Have one, need to price another.

Looks good and you will be very happy with the tilt cylinder!

A few comments and questions looking at the picture…

The clevis pin at the lower arm may need to be installed from the inside? It looks like the stabilizer arm may try to drive it out and bend up the hairpin?

Why do you have quick connections at the cylinder? I assume you don’t really need them there since you will just remove the whole cylinder and the hoses together as a unit VERY infrequently.

I think moving the 90 degree fittings to the cylinder might help with the hoses together routing. I think I went with at least one at the cylinder to keep the hoses away from the rear tire.

Rest of the story (started in Post #23,313)
Had enough spare time on Saturday to reinstall the fuel tank. It was a challenge for one old guy but I won using ratchet straps, 2x4's and a prybar. Today was replacing the ancient rubber fuel lines, filling with oil and enough fuel to start it and check for leaks.

The MVP Award goes to the little 12V Amazon pump. When draining the fuel tank for disassembly it removed nearly all the fuel. Today it made putting the fresh oil in a lot easier. Since the engine is in an enclosure, it's more difficult to add oil than a vehicle with a hood to open. My tractors and equipment have "flat two" trailer plugs. The plug on the pump plugged into the plug on the generator. They're polarized so you don't need to look for positive and negative.

There's a prime button on the generator. So with everything buttoned up and the bleed screw backed out and about 15 seconds on the button fuel spurted out. Then a little cranking and two short bursts of running before it took off and ran smoothly.

The Champion gasoline generator is 7KW/9KW peak while this one is 6KW. While the gas generator may have a higher rating, the diesel is happy to run as long as it would take to use its 32 gallons. Other than removing the ratty lighting the only changes I made were the addition of meters and a 30A dryer outlet for my plasma cutter and welders.
