On M6800HDC when clutch engaged from cab the shaft begins to turn but once loaded like disc mower starting to mow hay, the shaft apparently stops turning. Is this a common problem and how serious is the problem. Looks like the mechanism that engages pto clutch is internal to the housing.

Get a service manual, you need to start by adjusting the clutch, I suspect if the tractor is moving normal but the PTO is stalling that you have a dual clutch and the PTO clutch is going out or hopefully just out of adjustment.;)

This tractor has a hydrstatic trans. and does not have a two stage clutch. PTO is operated by the lever in cab only.

It is a M6800hdc.

Sorry my initial spouting off / thinking was too old school... Yes you have a wet clutch that's inside the transmission.

The control valve for it is external and there is one adjustment on it, If you can get to the valve In Picture 4 look at #'s 210, 200, 190, 180, 170 and see if they are loose. if they are it's probably come out of adjustment.
Also when was the last time you did a fluid and filter change?, being a wet clutch assembly it's susceptible to pressure variation due to restricted fluid movement.

I now see that the hyd pressure valve is external. I will check that part. I have changed the filters and hydr fluid. I did not use the Kubota brand fluid but an equivilent. Could this be part of the problem.?

Sadly Yes, the fluid is very specific for the newer high tech tractors.
Was it working fine before the fluid change?
My older, yet complex, GST will not work properly with aftermarket fluid.

I would hate for you to just waste fluid but, it might be in your best interest to change it to Kubota SUDT2, do the filter too.
It might fix your problem, but there is always a chance something else is going on.
Maybe you can use the fluid in something else that's not so picky.

I have used a non Kubota hyd fluid since owning the tractor. It did not start this until now and the tractor is about 8 or 9 years old.

Going back to what I am assuming is a pressure regulating valve. I looked at it and it seems to be tight. Is this part adjustable? is it rebuilable? can you check the hyd pressure at the quick connect to see if the tractor hyd system is at the proper pressure?

I have been trying to dig info out of the local dealer service dept but they say that I need to bring it to them so they can hook a dyno to it to find the problem.

I generally DIY my equipment so I am resisting this. Any advice is appreciated.

What you need is the WSM (work shop manual) for your tractor, I don't know of a free download so your probably going to have to bite the bullet and buy one.
It will give you all the break down on adjustments and such.
It will also give you a trouble shooting guide that should walk you right threw finding the problem.
If your three point is working fine it's not a general hydraulic problem.
I bet your problem lies in either the PTO control or the PTO clutch pack, leaning to the control.

WSM can also be purchased at your local Kubota dealer. It's possible that some debris got under relief valve in the pto control valve that Wolfman posted a photo of.

Is the relief valve something that can easily be removed and replace? meaning is soemthing like a spring going to come out of the hole when removed.

It looks like a valve that I replace on a round baler. That was very easy.

This sounds exactly like what is going on with my BX25, did you ever get this fixed? I am suspecting it is my relief valve as well, so if that was what was going on with yours then I can go in and try to fix mine with higher confidence.

Thanks,

Chris
