B7100 Adding alternator to replace Dyno ???
Hi,
Looking for help or suggestions. I am trying to figure the best way to add an alternator to a B7100 (1983) to replace the dyno. I need more output for lighting when plowing.
My plan is to make a bracket to replace the idler pulley assembly and mount a small profile alternator in it's place on the left side of the engine, above the oil filter. The photos are of the existing idler pulley system I am hoping to replace.
I have read somewhere on here that a Geo Metro alternator (about 40 Amp) would be a good (small profile) choice.
Has anyone fabricated a mounting bracket for this location yet? Wondering what challenges to watch out for before I start...
Thanks, Dan
