A year ago I did this on my little Yanmar 3 cylinder diesel that's in my 2012 Polaris Ranger. I opened it about a half turn I think. It did get me a couple more MPH, but it does smoke a lot more if you put the pedal to the floor. It doesn't smoke any more than stock if I stop at about 3/4 throttle.

Smoke is unburned fuel; once you see smoke, you are no longer making more power, but wasting it out of the exhaust.

You will also ware your engine out faster . Because over fueling washes your cylinders . I know this for a fact with a 7.3 ford . Best to leave them alone .

-----If ya need more power get a bigger tractor .-----

No turning the fuel up will wash the walls and ruin a engine .

Burn a hole in the piston on the 7.3 . And cracked a head . But the motor made it to 500,000 . The turn up was at about 450,000 and the truck ran fine we just done rebuild injectors and rebuild pump which got turned up and we didn't want that done and couldn't get the guy to turn it down . He runt the engine because of it .

On a tractor there's no reason to turn the fuel up unless its a race or drag tractor . Just dumb to me to want to waste fuel and ruin ya engine On little to no gain ... If ya need more power there's alway a bigger tractor .

No 2 Kubota engines are the same so it makes it a little tough to tell you how. You can do what I do and study the parts manual for your particular engine and find the mechanism for rack setting. Then your on your own with what you do with it. You have been given some very good educated and experienced advice here. What you do with it is your choice. Have at it.
I have been doing this, and just got a parts manual in, this should assist me further in turning it up and also hopefully being able to get a few more RPM out of it too.

I guess you could always go with a propane system Im sure that would give ya a little more kick
Well thought about this too, may be kind of difficult though but something to consider.

Eric, I get what you are saying- these tractors have more power than traction, so extra power doesn't net an advantage. But, it will give more PTO horsepower, which can be beneficial IF it isn't dangerous to the life of the engine. Like the recent post about powering a 72" finish mower- a couple extra horses can make a difference when you want to run something bigger.

Riotwarrior, I read your posts here and on your other thread- no need in getting impatient or insulting. Probably, no one answered you because they don't know. This is a good group, which means two things- if they know, they will jump in, and if they don't, they don't contribute what isn't helpful.
It isnt being impatient, it's all this talk of tractors...I DON"T HAVE ONE! This is an amphibious ATV or AATV and it's a toy not a work unit, not anything but something I actually can do this with. The engine is 200 bucks, so not a great huge investment and that being said ya..

IT IS NOT A TRACTOR, PLEASE STOP BRINGING TRACTORS UP IN THIS THREAD LOL It's just a toy I am working on read the whole thread and go to the links and read those threads especially the build thread, you will see and understand IT'S NOT A TRACTOR LOL

not sure if I mentioned this yet in this thread, but I don't have a tractor

On the very front of your zb600, right in front of the throttle lever there is a screw covered by a metal cap. remove that cap ( whatever method you chose, it is not made to be easy!) now if you loosen the jam nut and turn the screw counterclockwise you will increase maximum fuel. I don't know if you'll get much horsepower but you WILL get more smoke! LOL
I noticed that cap, and decided to check out the manual I see some type of control related to fuel there in the manual, I wasn't sure if it was the KEY:D Or not?

Thanks for the tip, I would imagine that turning it up, when a RHB31 turbo is added would be the biggest benefit for sure. That's the goal is to turn it up when I have it all set with a turbo. Heck Ebay had a cam for sale I could get for like 12 bucks and have reground LOL:cool:

Smoke is unburned fuel; once you see smoke, you are no longer making more power, but wasting it out of the exhaust.
Yes that's correct, oddly though, finding that fine line between no smoke and no added power is the hard part. I suspect that with a turbo it will be not a problem mind you.

Talking about turbos...this would be not the exact unit I'm getting but the same darn thing

So a rebuild of the fuel system at 450K and meltdown at 500 K is the problem? What 7.3 are you talking about because that's right about the limit for most part on some of the 7.3's, imho You did have the option of going to another shop and having it turned back down btw...or do it yourself. Don't blame the fuel guy since you had other options!

Besides it is only going to fuel...what your foot puts into it!

Guess I neglected to mention this fact I don't have a tractor what so ever!!!

This is what I am working on here, now does that look like a tractor???? No I didn't think so, thus stop bringing up tractors in me thread please...there is not really any comparison to one LMAO

Folks, this is just a fun little project of mine and something I am playing with, nothing more, really it's a blast and all but needs more power. I'm hoping that a tuned up, turned up and turbo'd diesel will be able to get me what I'm looking for. Some guys run upwards of 40-50 hp in these machines and have fun doing so, I'm just looking for a few more ponies and some torque too.

I'm hoping this helps to remove any confusion about what the machine is and is not...IT is an AATV it is not a TRACTOR buwah ha ha ha haaaaa

Here the Kubota ZB600C-1 Engine running on a pallet with small leak from IP DOH!!! What do I expect for $200.00...that's why I want to play with turning it up and such...cause it's just that affordable.
http://youtu.be/f4vPk36fgMc

Thank you to those who respond and understand what I'm attempting to do and providing good usable information pertaining to my query and are willing to take the time to help me. I'm really not trying to be an ass guys, I'm just not understanding how anyone who actually has read the thread remotely thinks this is a tractor LOL

I came here looking for some help because it seemed favorable to find information here pertaining to Kubota engines. Perhaps this is my mistake for thinking people go outside the box with Kubota engines.

For some reason I'm sure there are people IN THE KNOW of what I want to do and have likely done this. This is not against the law, like collecting rain water in some states is LOL it's just a simple quest for MORE!

Thanks for reading ....

Ok first off you didn't start the thread so maybe ya want start your on about making more power for your atv .

And ya the turned up pump ruined the motor of a 7.3 idi . There was no where else that we knew of at the time . And we weren't big Internet people . Hell there wasn't big forums and stuff back then .

And this thread was started about a b1750 which is a tractor .

So maybe you should read the whole store .

YOU Are correct, I've made a huge ass dumb ass mistake on those parts, I came into this tread with the same turn up IP question...

MY BAD

I'm not too proud to mention I effed up in that respect.

I apologize to the OP and to anyone else whom I may have confused in the thread. I have so many threads on this darn machine I tend to loose track of what is going on in which and so forth as I research the crap out of different aspects of it.

This is my thread LOL still...I made a mistake,
http://www.orangetractortalks.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11826&highlight=zb600C

However I've still asked and mentioned what I am personally working on.

Oh and turning an IP up on an old IDI ya, that's the problem that engine was likely on it's last legs before the turn up...join us over at oilburners.net for more info on those good ole engines!

Hey riotwarrior,

man...I feel like such a heel for poluting the ops thread now...doh..

Now to what motor are you speaking? The STARTER MOTOR on the ZB600C Engine? You must want to make some type of electrically driven tractor to want to use a motor... LOL

Would uou be creating a hybrid of sorts with your motor driven tractor...that would sure develop some torque!

Studied both WSM and PM this evening. I now see where the capped control is, I looked on the engine and confirmed which was Fuel.

I also noticed a second capped part and looked it up, apparently that second cap covers the governor adjustment.

It looks like I am on my way to some new found power and revs.

All in due time, first get it running solid as is with refreshed IP and injectors, timed and so forth.

I can utilize my Kent Moore J33300 diesel timing meter and a timing light to check out timing as well as rpm.

If anyone would be interested in learning how that works I would be pleased to show via video and pictures in what I call a TECH 101.

The more I dig into these factory manuals the better it gets. I will order a core plug for the head, (for size purposes) so I can investigate viability of a block heater to assist cold winter starts. If block heater fits great, golden, if not I will have a new core plug to put back in engine.

things like that will make this a great swap.

thanks again for the tips on capped controls!

Al

Al,
Kats makes a kit to put the heater in a freeze plug hole, it consists of a extension sleeve and heater. I've go one on my D950, so far so good!

There is also a inline model that works great too.
I have 1 of them just sitting around because the D950 I put in my B7100 takes smaller radiator hoses than did the old D750.

I like hose heaters as well. Easier to install and no risk of losing the oil if something decides to leak.

aeblank,
I'm a little lost on your comment, how can you "lose oil" from a block heater?

I looked and that style of heater though looking good to start with invariably doesn't seem to fit, the one core plug exiting on the side of the head is right in line with fuel inlet to IP and so that heater won't work either...DOH:(

I'm not sure either how you can loose oil out the cooling system...makes zero sense to me as well.

The ZB 600 is a self contained water cooled setup. No water pump no external radiator no hoses, all self contained so add on block heater is difficult.

May have to go with silicone pad stick on heaters and see if that will assist starting in cold.

got the landlords golf cart fixed yesterday which allows me to get back onto my own stuff ONCE again. I've got a John Deere 5500N of landlords to fix next UGH  stupid machine...LOL

Measuring my clutch on my Tecumseh today to see exactly what model it is...700 or 780, if it's a 780 I just may pull the engine, rip the clutch apart PROPERLY LOL and see if I can finally get that bad boy off my engine. If it's a 780 it's worth me keeping it if not and only a 700 it's worth selling it.

Lots to do, truck engine to pull too..
