I understand that but am wanting to know how the person taking the backhoe off the tractor is prevented from connecting the incorrect hoses together.

For example there will be two hoses with female ends and one with a male end left on the tractor when the backhoe is removed. So only one of the two female ends is connected to the male end. How does the person know which female end to cap and which one to plug in? Are there sticker nameplates, color codes, length limits on hoses?

Length limit on hoses. ;)

At a minimum the control valves used on the BH6x, BH7x, and BH9x models do not have a PB outlet.

They have a pressure IN and a tank OUT port. Consequently the hoe must be plumbed as the next to last valve in the neutral (PB) circuit and the tank return is connected to the 3pt inlet. That return must NEVER be used for high pressure carry over.

When the hoe is attached the 3pt control lever must be kept in the FLOAT or NEUTRAL. position to avoid over pressuring the tank port on the hoe. This is a questionable design kludge rife with potential for problems.

I've always wondered why the BH instructions said to remove the mower deck from the belly on the BX. Being that it's connected to the 3pt, that makes more sense now. I see pictures all the time with mower decks and BHs installed.

Common sense is expected. Match the markings on the couplers.

Worse case if you screw up and hook pump to tank all your hydraulics quit working but nothing gets damaged.

Actually, the mower deck itself does not have to be removed. The hydraulic hoses to the back hoe need to be removed and capped if the mower is used. Hoses for the system need to be returned to original hook ups to use the mower. This relates to a BX23D and I would think a few other of the BX's.

There's not a lot of ground clearance on the BX23S, far less with a mower deck under the belly. I assume that's why, so you don't damage the deck 'mucking about' ?
Similar for 'should remove loader and BH while mowing the lawn'.
As for hose, if designed properly, you shouldn't be able to connect them up wrong.

Then the hosed on a LA525 are designed wrong because if youcl are color blind and/or clueless its very easy to hook them up wrong.
