L2501 losing power

I know this was not your issue and I am not an expert on this model by any means, but your issue sounds very similar to what I experienced on my SVL75-2. I chased fuel starving issues for a few weeks until I found a forum on bad injectors. A known issue on those models but the symptoms are identical. Runs great until its warmed up then falls on its face. Anyways $2,800 later I had 4 new injectors and a machine that runs good again. Rough bill to choke down on a 6 year old machine with only 240 hours but it is what it is.

The SVL75-2 and L2501 are two completely different fuel systems. The l2501 has a simple mechanical fuel system, The SVL75-2 has a computer controlled common rail system with exhaust after treatment.

mikeyt's problem was the lift pump. Remove the hose from the separator at the lift pump. If you don't get a full flow, you have a blockage somewhere between the tank and the pump. Have you checked for water in the separator? What exactly are your symptoms?

Lift pum replace. Just removed and cleaned the fuel pump, very little slime in it. Putting it all back together (pita). All filters replaced, will replace the fuel filter. If this doesn’t work I’m going to look at replacing injectors.

Just pull the hose off going to the lift pump and see if you get a full stream. If you have any slime in the lift pump, there's a good chance you have a blockage upstream. The probability of the injectors being your problem is approximately zero. We haven't even checked the solenoid yet.

Please take a minute and tell us the problem you're having. Does it completely die? Did it happen suddenly or come on slowly? How old is the tractor? Does it sit unused for long periods? How many hours on it?

The latest symptoms are won’t go above 2000 rpm even at full throttle and the rpm will fluctuate at thst point. No smoke black or white. Lift pump replaced less than 3 operation on it.
I will finish putting the tractor back together today after removing the tank and flushing it out well with degreaser.
A small blob of jelly looking matter came out. This all started with 150 hours and it is now at 160.

I can just recommend using a biocide in your fuel. And maybe this:

I put the tractor back together. Fuel filter clean, fresh fuel. I spent 30 minutes mowing with a 60” brush hog set at 4 1/2 on the deck level. It ran better and maintained rpm for the most part but it woukd still lose power occasionally when going through anout 8-10” grass/weeds. It would lose 500 rpm and occasionally bog down 1000 rpm. This never happened when it was newer, it would plow through much taller brush with no problem. At this point Ive done everything I can do short of replacing injection pump or injectors. Any advice is appreciated.

Sharpen or replace the blades on the mower? Or at least inspect the underside of the mower to see what it looks like to be sure it is operating properly.

Could be. Since he's detected visible slime, I'd use some additive and work it hard.

Been there and done that. One of the first things I tried.

If the tractor has only 160 hours on it, it's very unlikely a injector or injection pump issue.

Treat the fuel with a cetane booster and see if you get any improvement.
Stanadyne is my go to.

interestngly I bought Stansdyne earlier. Hope it works. Cleaning the tank did help some.
