1. Any reason not to use a lock n roll hitch?Great Idea / nice customization!.
I have thought on and off about a forwarding trailer, but for now use one of a couple small trailers if need be (OEM forwarding trailers seem pricey to me). couple questions:
1. Any reason not to use a lock n roll hitch?
2. Did your winch not have kick stands on it? Or are your additions more robust so as not the fold the OEM ones?
3. The 4 corner posts look like they might fold but I am confused as they set in a stake pocket? What am I missing on the corner post bracket construction with stake pocket below?
4. With the modification do you now winch the logs from the crane? (Don’t take crane on / off the winch?)
looks very functional. Nice job.![]()
That’s a great set up from the crane to the trailer to the unload on the cutting table.1. Any reason not to use a lock n roll hitch?
Do you mean Rock n Roll ? or Pintle Hitch - I would always use a Pintle or equivalent hitch in the woods. Even with level ground you might have go thru a ditch or over a rock or large root. I have never, knock on wood, had trouble with my hitch set-up even going down some pretty good hills.

The winch is an 25 YO Farmi 290 with just a plain dozer blade. I added all the rest.

The trailer is a 3000 lb capacity Pronvost that has removable panels

I added stake pockets. I used to load it by hand in the woods, then block up on the trailer, and split at the shed. The loading by hand part is a no-go now - thus the interest in a crane.

A couple years ago I made a cutting table and one side of the bunks that could fold down.

Some times but only if I cut them into short/light logs first. This works good if I am going out to pick up one tree or a clump that fell on the road or a trail. But if I am thinning or working in a broader area or have longer winch pulls I like to go out first with just the winch and bunch cut to length logs trail side.
I pulled this mess out of the apple tree with just the winch and left it trail side, then came back later with the trailer when I had a couple three such piles spread around the woods.

I think I see a little torpedo level sitting on top of the right side plate of your boxblade. Is it permanently attached? For what do you use it?Did some more work with the tractor today. I pretty much got my driveway all squared away for now. Going to be getting a delivery of some driveway mix soon.

Gave the tractor a good workout this weekend. Although was it really a workout for this machine? Nah.
The box blade is freaking awesome though. Makes me wanna get rear remotes installed now. I blame all you guys lol.
But I had enough being outside this holiday weekend. But it was nice to get some projects done around the property.
I did end it with some ice cream though!

I just use it as a guide when I’m changing the angle and tilt. I can mostly put it in the same spot by using the level. I don’t know, it’s handy for me instead of guessing. I know some make marks on the top and side links.I think I see a little torpedo level sitting on top of the right side plate of your boxblade. Is it permanently attached? For what do you use it?
I've had a weight box that I filled with concrete that's nearly 700 pounds. That works good too but honestly with this box blade, I don't think I'll need it.I try to do track maintenance after it rains. Helps soften the clay and keep the dust down. My summer 26 revisions are almost complete. During the off season I can contemplate design changes for the 27 season. I moved a dirt pile I had stored to it's new home after I moved some turns last month. It's about 10-12 buckets worth of a "speed bump".

Bucket # 3. I lost count after 6 lol View attachment 176676
Dirt looking pretty good, wish I could have rode today. Spent too much time mowing and weed whipping today in the heat, I was exhausted.

@ nerwin, the box blade is my favorite attachment. I use it for my motocross track prep mostly, to rip the sod and level things out. It's my first pick in equipment, and it's also my weight ballast when doing loader work. You'll find you can lift more on the loader with it on the back.
