Well I walked in thinking I was going to buy the BB1266 and I saw a used Kioti BB2066 on the lot. Well managed to get it for just over a grand.

I had them load it into my Nissian Frontier 🤣

Man this is one rugged blade. Extremely durable, probably more than the LP1566. This thing weighs 528 pounds.

I messed around with it in my driveway, can’t ruin it any more than it already is! I honestly don’t know what I’m doing but the teeth didn’t take much to rip through this hard pack sta-mat. I experimented with the geometry of the 3 point to get it to angle for crowning, digging and smoothing.

what I have a hard time is figuring out how to level everything. I just gotta learn how to do it.

But yeah, kind of glad I went with this.

I had it full of dirt at one point when pulling it and just about to roll over the top. The L2501 didn’t even struggle, just kept pulling. Impressed.
Running a box blade is an art form. Once you have everything where you want it, lengthen the top link to use the rear cutting edge to mash and smooth everything while driving forward.

Knowing that you appreciate technology…

Go ahead and invest in the two (or three) rear remotes valves and two hydraulic cylinders (top and tilt) for your rear implements.

They will be greatly beneficial in using that box blade effectively.

That’s what I did, except I made waves 🤣

it’s okay, it’s part of practicing. I will get better at it.

I used the B to load my new eggpliment so I could take her for a drive. 😉
View attachment 176430 View attachment 176431
Well the eggpliment 😉survived the trip North. I was worried it might crack under pressure😂. Me and MX completed the tag team and unloaded the cargo. No cracks👍

The free grill I had up North finally started to fall apart so I needed to replace. I have an egg at home and like it so I looked for 6 months or so to find a deal and finally was able to find a brand new never used one sitting an hour and half drive of me for the right price…these folks had won in in a raffle but didn’t want it after found out what they won. Anyway they wanted it gone…however it was already assembled and no packaging. So we unassembled it, and packed as best we could. Well it made the 4 hr trip and it gave me an excuse to tag team with both kubotas!

Don’t mess with the 3pt lever. Let the box blade weight do the work. That rear cutting edge should smooth everything nicely.
And it is definitely trial and error most times.

The "problems" with "waves" is the tires "enhance" them!

Once you have the material basically where you wanted it and "loose" ... Use your loader bucket in float and reverse over the waves!

Or ... Buy a land plane!

Haa ya. I didn’t have my bucket on, too lazy 😂

But I made a mistake by doing a section of the driveway as a test and then I was having too much fun and went further so the section where I was stopping was compacted by the tractor which probably why I had waves instead of doing one continuous swipes. It’s okay, I’m gonna do it again. I just want to practice. Rather do it to my driveway than someone else’s haha

someone was trying to tell me I need to put the 3 point into float. But I’m like huh? 3 point is always in float 🤷‍♂️

Three point always floats up, but not down below the level you set it at ...

In other words ... If you take a solid 4" thick block, set it in front of your rear tire, set the BB on the ground, now drive forward ... The BB will raise off the ground ...

Now stop with the tire on top of the block, lower the three point so BB is on the ground again ... Drive forward and remove the block out of the way, now the BB will float/scuff along the ground even if your front tire drops, or your rear tire rises ...

Depending on the angle of the top link ... Longer will have the back blade being pulled "backwards" and it will smooth quite good ... Top link short will cause front blade to dig/cut in more!

That's why a hydraulic top link is so handy ... No getting off the tractor 5 times to adjust the top link, just pull a lever!

Hot and humid up north…not sure what I would do without a tractor. I must confess I did fantasize about a cab with AC today🫣.

tasks for today with MX:
1. Mowed pasture / trails and checked the pollinator habitat we planted over the winter. Looks good. We have a couple Susan’s starting to bloom and we can see clearly the planting vs the pasture.

2. We had very severe storms and I lost a lot of trees. So we assessed the woods and tree lines. The couple pics is pretty much what the woods look like now. I may get into that tomorrow.

3. Mowed off a new area for future pollinator habilitation, the raked it, planted some buckwheat, then raked it again. (I found some free 😉chainsaw bars and some free carpet that has seen better days. )

now I am too pooped to pop.

as far as the raking, this was first real use. There was some storm debris and debris from clearing the area, so I was able to use for multiple tasks. Very happy with it. Couple things I would mention:
1. Hydraulic top link is very helpful to set the pressure to the ground.
2. Hydraulic functions very helpful during transport if have to negotiate trees or other items when swinging.
3. Being so wide is it takes a little more attention when turning or near objects.

Got to the other creek crossing that needed work. It doesn’t look too awful, but the wheel tracks where they come out of the water are just silt for about 6” under the water so the Mule is bottoming out on the front skid plate going across and dragging the trailer hitch receiver on the way back. IMG_9786.jpeg
Ran off the little minnows that were sunning in the wheel ruts. IMG_9788.jpeg
Added some scrap masonry from the old well we had closed last year. IMG_9789.jpeg
Got a couple buckets of dirty sand and grass from a nearby pile on the bank. IMG_9790.jpeg
A little bucket work, a little box blade work, and its looking better. IMG_9792.jpeg
Added some scrap masonry in the other creek crossing a few days ago to fill similar holes. It was quite muddy at the time; good time to add the masonry and compact it in. Bad time to finish grade it because you can move mud, but you can’t really finish grade it. It was serviceable but looking rough as the pic below shows.
IMG_9752.jpeg
It had dried up enough today to finish grading out. Hopefully they’re good enough it will be a while before they need any more attention. IMG_9795.jpeg

Out mowing and looked at the corn. I can say that it is higher than knee high before the 4th of July.

I have so many trees down from the storm I wasn’t sure where to begin…it’s just such a mess. Went back as far as I could to start opening the trail.

This was first legitimate use of my winch and I have to see it thoroughly exceeded expectations. Partnered with the MX I think its got to be better than messing with a team of mules.

I did manage to get into an argument with the drum brake and owners manual…in this heat that took the starch out of me. Good news is I had help and did not get so bad as to require legal counsel😉…I thought it was headed that way but we managed.

Hate your place got torn up, but it’s about time you started knocking the paint off that Wallenstein!

Kind of amazing how much one person can do with a winch and grapple.

You got me there, LOL. However I visit so infrequently and weather has not cooperated as much as I like. The storm forced me to go winch some trees.

In all honestly I had super vision of spousal unit.😂

Spent a few hours digging a borrow hole. The top soil/brown dirt along the side is anywhere from 2-3' deep.

Hard work, especially in the heat. Glad you are getting to appreciate your winch. I noticed a nice tree stand off to the side (y)

Good day.

honestly I was expecting to see multiple observation towers😉 laying on ground with the trees. Luckily they are still all standing and in tact.

yes the weather is less than ideal for this work, and I think what’s worst is the ground not froze either so it definitely made the logs dirtier…it sure seemed like my chain started to dull. (Yesterday would have been a good day for an arch or forwarding trailer)

that being said it cuts down on a lot of work and allows me get the logs to a good place for processing with plenty of room to negotiate with the machine and grapple.

I was really surprised how fast and effortless the winch pulled multiple logs at the same time….it did not lug pto / tractor at all.

I Believe it will take some time and experience to become efficient with the rigging and how to position the tractor and all…but it certainly pulls more than its own weight (pun intended 🤠). I believe it will be much more enjoyable in the winter.
