I've seen farmers put in fermenting setups and hope for a return on investment, but nothing runs forever for free, and there's a lot of waste products. I've seen garage setups too though I'd think that's too small a scale to be economical.
Anyway, I haven't seen a long-term viable farm setup, nor a long-term "fry burner" which I'd think the closest to an at-home scalable "bio-diesel" setup. Even the long-term holdouts eventually realize they're losing money due to Total Cost Of Ownership (filters, cleaning costs, clog removal, overhead, etc.).
I knew a few farmers and bunch of fry guys, and I hoped it would work for the good of everyone. Even the chainsaw guys want to use vegetable-based oil in their saws, but there's always reasons it's not a good idea. If it was a good idea other people would "steal" it and use it themselves--it would spread like wildfire in an August field. But unfortunately that's not the case.
