Hello All!
Wanted to say hello as a New member here with a L2502 purchased new in 2024, I had rather gotten used to the smoke with this machine being it’s not a diesel engine with emissions equipment, but with the cold starts here in Michigan without a block heater although I was able to fire up at any temp I did think that the smoke was a bit excessive.. and so an internet search revealed my model had a Technical service bulletin for this issue. I verified with my dealer yesterday, and they are ordering parts for me. If I read correctly there are shims in this fuel pump which if they remove one or more of them this advances the fuel timing to help more complete the power stroke without wasting as much fuel out the exhaust? Not sure how much more power I should gain or RPM? Does anyone have some information who might have had this done already on how it runs after this dealer fix?
Thank you all in advance!

Welcome and congratulations on your new machine.👏

I have heard of this, but I am not “up to snuff” on the particualrs. Although I would not expect a significant difference in power/rpm.

The more curious thing is why your dealer even stocked a tractor WITHOUT a block heater.(considering your latitude.)

Anyway, nice tractor, and good luck sir(y)

The dealer technically has their hands tied, as they can’t perform any work that would cause the engine output to climb above 25hp. Sounds like they are changing the injection timing, which is a popular modification on that particular engine.

If you don’t like the smoke on a cold start, have them add a block heater while it’s being worked on. It’s a cheap addition that makes a world of difference, and it is easier on the machine when used.

I am shocked also that Tractor did not come with block heater.

I got my tractor in clare, it does not have a block heater, now that I’m more north I really wish I had one, I keep it in a heated garage that negates the purpose but would be nice on the times I have to keep it outside or in a shed depending on what’s in the garage.

I've read one or two reports on here about folks having the TSB done. I think it involves pump shims, but I wouldn't expect to start tractor pulling. For that you need the turbo kit.

Huh……I guess I was just lucky then.

I bought mine at a place near my cottage, (Ginops of Hillman) since I figured that would be the place it spends most of it’s time, and although I did not “specify” a block heater, there is one. 🤷‍♂️

haha sounds like it! I am gonna have to look into what it takes to install one before committing.

1: Drain coolant
2: Remove the soft plug
3: Install the sleeve into the soft plug hole
4: Screw the heater into the sleeve
5: Refill with coolant
