New to me Kubota L6060. Had some water contamination on the fuel. I clean it all out. Engine runs great, revs up no problem, but after running for a couple of minutes it shuts itself off like you turned the key. Any suggestions?
Did you change the fuel filter? If you had water contamination you could have algae contamination which can block a fuel filter. Probably a good idea to change the fuel filter if you haven't already.New to me Kubota L6060. Had some water contamination on the fuel. I clean it all out. Make sure you keep your butt in the butt bucket.New to me Kubota L6060. Had some water contamination on the fuel. I clean it all out. Engine runs great, revs up no problem, but after running for a couple of minutes it shuts itself off like you turned the key. Any suggestions?
"Butt bucket"Make sure you keep your butt in the butt bucket.

Not my creation. I believe that is an original coined by Dell (RIP) , a long time curmudgeon on Yesterdays Tractors. Also known for his "sparkies""Butt bucket"![]()
I would think (hope) that someone capable of cleaning out the fuel system and changing the fuel filter knows enough to rule this out as a cause, but these days anything's possible I suppose.Make sure you keep your butt in the butt bucket.

Its (briefly) fooled me twice which is why I mentioned it. But maybe I am not that smart.I would think (hope) that someone capable of cleaning out the fuel system and changing the fuel filter knows enough to rule this out as a cause, but these days anything's possible I suppose.![]()
Dan, if it can happen to you it can happen to anyone! Its (briefly) fooled me twice which is why I mentioned it. But maybe I am not that smart.

The real head scratcher was on a G2160. The battery hold down had broken and when traversing a steep cross hill with right side to down slope the battery was shifting and hitting some safety device (forget exactly what) that shut the engine off.Dan, if it can happen to you it can happen to anyone!![]()
Check your safety switches, seat switch in particular. You can disable them by shorting the connector and test if problem is still there.Tractor runs perfectly for a couple of minutes. I would think this would rule out an issue with a fuel systems sensor
Bingo.Check your safety switches, seat switch in particular. You can disable them by shorting the connector and test if problem is still there.
A friend of mine had a faulty seat switch recently which was broken under the seat shorting out a fuse after a few minutes.
With a safety switch fault the tractor would shut down immediately, same way as you switch it off with the key. A fuel problem would typically have the engine stopping slowly.
Four tractors in and never had that issue, even when I was a "new operator". I move around in the seat a lot when running numerous implements out back but never had the seat safety switch kill the tractor. If I stand up then sure.Bingo.
Easy for operators, especially new operators, to kill engine by leaning to side causing operator presense switch to open, killing engine.
We had this discussion and it is everybodys own decision and responsibility. One of the very first things that I do after delivery of a new tractor is to defeat the OP switch.
