Downsized from a compact NH to the Kubota BX. Stupid moments = events that should not occur.

1st are you that stupid moment. NH had a single rocker pedal. Brake pedal positioned where the forward pedal is on the BX. When needing to stop going in reverse I hit the BX's forward pedal. Bit of a jerky stop. At least I didn't hit what I would of if continuing in reverse. Enough seat hours now on the BX that this moment shouldn't t happen.

3rd moment. Yesterday while spreading new gravel on the driveway all of a sudden could barely move in reverse. Back to garage thinking. Poo. Looked down. The knob that keeps the grill attached had fallen off. Rolled under the reverse pedal preventing full movement. Not fully tightening the knob was moment #2. Luckily the knob didn't end up somewhere on the driveway buried under new gravel.

When I saw the thread title I was willing to bet that you were about to describe how you took out the garage door header with the ROPS. That will come...someday. ;)

Heck - - I had the rear wheels WAY off the ground within first 2 minutes of use of the loader....

Thankfully kept rubber side down. I had some operating experience which helped. Had to remember it wasn't a Case 580K....

Off topic a little, buddy used to joke he rode his Kawasaki behind the group of his Harley Davidson friends.

He would pick up the parts that fell off the H-D's....

I bought a new Harley in 2005. First ride, I was leaving a town and accelerating.

Missed a shift...twice...thought lack of practice.

Look down and my shifter peg fell off!!!! Bike had 10 miles on it.....

Could hook the shifter arm with my shoe but was a challenge.

Rode 10 more miles home and stopped at my local hardware store. Owner and I fashioned a cheap and rustic peg out of 1/4" pipe nipple.

Used it for several months and kept it 20 years....;)

Done it once with the Kubota. Fortunately, it was just mangled metal cover over the header and I had a guy coming in a week to do other trim work so....

And I did it once with the wife's car (garage door was not fully opened.) That was a $1,500 insurance claim!!!

New shop has a 10' high door. I still look as I go under to make sure the 2' clearance is enough.....

Ditto. I got my old BX23 stuck in the garage door. Took me about 10 seconds to figure out why I couldn't move forward with the tractor any further. Thought I had a transmission issue. Then I looked up. ROPS was wedged under the garage door header. Dropped the air in the rear tires to get it loose. :(

More or less did that with compact NH. Had ~1cm of clearance below the garage door bottom lift/pull down handle. One cold winter day the ROPS clipped it somehow messing up the torsion spring system. Cleared the driveway and then proceeded to reset the torsion spring by trial and error. BX is tiny. Plenty of clearance above the ROPS. Plus I removed the handle on the garage door. To short to reach and a pain in the back bending over to pull up. Useless handle except for catching ROPS.

4th moment this morning. Normally I don't run the fuel level below 1/4 level. Had ~3/8 of tank of fuel left. More driveway work using the FEL and dirt bucket to fill and back blade my dips and rolls. After a bit of time fuel idiot light kicked on. Gauge was close to empty. 100 feet from garage. Back in the garage the gauge read ~1/8th. Realized going up a steeper incline the gauge goes down and the light goes on. Also tilting to starboard (users right) it drops.

Guessing not good for the fuel pump when fuel level is low. In the future will definitely try keep at least 1/2 tank full and refuel before reaching 1/4 tank. Small tractor. Small fuel tank. 1/4 of small is not much fuel.

Don’t ever trust the fuel gauge.

I don’t know the changes/improvements between my BX2360 and your BX2380.

If my BX2360 fuel gauge gets off “FULL”, it will often take nearly 2.5-3 gallons of fuel which is half the rated capacity.

Been that way 12 years.

I usually fill it as soon as the needle starts tipping off FULL.

I would never let it down to a 1/4 tank on the gauge.

If you draw a bunch of bugs, algae and other crap from the tank and into the lines, filter, and lift pump you’re done.

Could take a lot to get it running again.

Well dont feel to badly, I know a guy that had a yellow tractor with no ROPS, and for years use to just push, low branches out of the way, never a problem....... THEN ONE day this guy bought an orange tractor with a ROPS, and mowing the same places he mowed for years with the old tractor with never a problem pushing low hanging fruit branches out of the way. And with out thinking, pushed up a low branch, only to find it and his arm entangled in the branch and the ROPS. That resulted in a one handed drive to the ER , and he came home with his arm in a cast.

Got that t-shirt as well. In my case, I was super paranoid in the beginning, and you think you have it down to habit... Until a long day in the seat using BH & loader into late evening (read as dark) then getting a surprise thunderstorm. The shed is/was pretty well built and gave a bit but didn't crush.

I'm pretty sure I cracked a beam or two  . "Tapped" it again after a few similar days - Not my sharpest moments!

Unfortunate thing! How long before the cast came off your arm?

I ripped the right rear light off my Massey.

It's mounted to the outside of the rops and a tree limb got it 🙄🙄
