Fwiw, I don’t think this is something moderators should necessarily know. It’s a software update.

In most parts of the world, sites are required to ask for permission to track. This just seems to be an update from the forum software to ask permission for what they used to do automatically.

I opted out of everything, and I don’t think it’s a problem. Note: it seems to be browser specific, so if you login in on different devices, you’ll be asked the question again.

I'd say it's more that Joe is being haunted by his welding joints. I certainly would have nightmares if they would be on my tractor.

Good point. There is a fourth question. Answered all four and hit the confirm button. No change in behavior of whatever that thing is.

Personally, I don’t care. I’ll just keep closing that window and logging in. I don’t know what the thing is accomplishing other than being a mild irritant. So far as privacy, my pre-retirement vocation thoroughly convinced me if you think you have any privacy you’re wrong; way wrong. If I was new to the site, it might bother me.

Everyone dislikes popups, especially those that require you to do a particular action to get them to go away. I am very familiar with the Xenforo Software, and I know that unless the software has been hacked, every action such as a popup must be embedded into the software by someone with administrative control. It most likely has to do with some advertising contract access. I hope posting this doesn't get me booted out of the forums. If it does, so be it for letting the cat out of the bag.
