Haha, its funny how they want to show interest in the new tractor.... Just bought a new mx4700 and the wife even put out hay with it.... She never offered to do that with the old rig

The 7040 requires a trans flush at 50 hrs? Better double check that manual, first flush for all others is 400 hours.

BTW, the 7060 w/ the 12/12 trans has a 16GPM hydro flow rate. Saw it in the new Kubota brochure book.

Indeed! Wow, that's one of the first I've heard of a trans fluid change at 50. I hear it happening to people at dealers all of the time for their 50hr service on machines that do not require it. Make a one hell of a pricey 50hr! Your change is every 600 hours as well!?! That makes up for it. Wonder why most of the Ls go every 400 hours?

What transmission is in that thing?

You won't do a trans fluid change on the 3800 @ 50hr though. Just oil and filters.

UDT2 makes for a quieter machine. It's the 'quietest' oil that can be put in it. There are threads out there on Big $$ synthetics making HSTs a good bit louder.

I've lost 4 qts between an oops moment w/ the trans filter and a busted hydro line. Not sure if the 7040 is like the 3800 w/ the trans filter, but fluid comes flowing out madly when the filter is removed. I'd probably drain from the main hydro filter, just unscrew it and it will flow many times faster than using any one of the numerous drain plugs for the trans. on the gear there are 4 hydro drains I believe. Probably the same on the HST. Open the fill port after removing the filter to get air flowing in for max drain speed.

As for the oil filter, I use FRAM TG8A as its got the best filtering capability out of just about every filter. It's also longer than OEM and helps protect the fuel filter bowl.

Ya that's why it will be changed at 50 hour on the L3800 .
Good thing is it only takes 6-7 gallons .

I was rather surprised to hear how quiet the UDT2 was. Most OEMs just use a part or fluid that fits a need and doesn't really go much further than branding it. Clearly Kubota has done some work making that UDT2 for it to be what it is. Just reinforces what us orange tractor guys already know; Kubota has some great engineers. There is a hiccup here and there, but they seem to be more of a 'convenience' issue than a quality one.

I looked just to make sure I remembered right, my M9000 says change fluid and filter @ 50hrs, change hyd filter again @ 300 hrs, change fluid and filter @ 600 hrs.

My L3000 says change fluid and clean strainer @ 50 hrs, then again @ 400 hrs.

Do those machines have magnetic trans filters? I know when I changed the 3800 at the 50 mark the filter's magnet was loaded with shavings. @ 200 hrs I pulled off the filter to look at it and there was nothing what-so-ever on the magnet.

I have about 330hrs on the factory trans fluid and it's still as clear as when it was bought. I'd like to hear their reasoning for the 50hr change. Sounds like a waste of perfectly good fluid.

The M9000 has the magnetic filter setup but the L3000 has nothing but a strainer. Seems like it had a magnet but no real filter. I know the oil that was drained out of the rearend was extremely nasty @50 hrs. The frontend was the same way. I'm glad I changed it out after seeing the condition of the fluid.

I can see some thinking it's a waste of money draining the fluid @ 50 hrs but to me it was piece of mind knowing for sure it had clean fluid. The first service is when I switched them over to Amsoil anyway.

Same here, except I have around 200 hours on mine. I didn't change the trans oil at 50 hrs (just filter), will wait and do it at 400 per manual.
