A saturday morning of pushing sticks around. I need a grapple. Finally got our back road cleared off...for now.

Alot of our pines took a hard hit last year with the drought. Then some sort of beetle come through and really F'ed stuff up....bunch of jerks. Pines are crumbling around here.

Nothing messier than a big old dead pine. Ask me how I know. A grapple would definitely come in handy.

For the last two weeks its been like in the single digits during the day and below zero at night. Last night we got a little bit of snow, it was only couple inches but yesterday we got an inch from a snow squall so since today was sunny, not a cloud in the sky and in the mid 30s I decided to go out and clean up the driveway. Did I need to? Nope. But I been going through a depressive episode, life just sucks sometimes but it was nice to get on the tractor and do something to get my mind off things. What do they call it again? Tractor therapy?

It was nice feeling the warmth of the sun, forgot what it felt like haha. This really cold weather was sucking!

The snow banks were quite solid, surprised the tractor was able to just break right through it. Put it in low and lightly pushed in and lifted and curled the plow at same time and broke all the frozen snow banks. I'm impressed. My SxS wouldn't know what to do besides just spin 🤣

Got 15 hours under my belt already and I'm really happy with this tractor thus far.

Also...why is it that every time you go plowing and you want to back out into the road...there's a line of 500 cars you need to wait for.to go by? I live like in the middle of nowhere. When I don't plow, there are no cars!!

When I install the 3rd function on the tractor, I'm def gonna put one or two cylinders on this. Kinda sucks having to get off everytime to change the angle, it's not a big deal but man it sure will be nice to angle it from the seat, will make plowing even faster! But then again, don't mind it taking a little longer either 😉
Tractor therapy is great therapy! When you install the 3rd function you'll be so excited to install the tilt ram on that plow too. I saw a YouTube video a while back that shows a guy installed an electric linear actuator to activate the SSQA levers so you never have to get off the machine, really think that will be a project here soon.

I have hydraulic cylinders on the STB1596 blade I use and you will definitely appreciate the upgrade! (y) I bought the blade new and it came with a pair of double acting cylinders.

Had 2 new 1/2in hyd diameter hoses made for the grapple. Took about 1 hour to sleeve them, not sure these nylon sleeves are even worth messing with.

I've been fortunate enough to never need them. However, I've been told they make life suck a lot less if a pinhole leak develops in the hose and you have body parts nearby.

These hoses are used on a 1100lb grapple, on a cab skidsteer, not worried about being sprayed etc. Most of the leaks in hoses are caused nicks cuts and galges taken out on the hose. So far it seems like I can get about 250hours out of a set of hoses from clearing land, this will be the 4th set. If I'm out of the cab, the line pressure is disabled automatically, I'm sure there is very little or minimal pressure on the lines when the machine is in park mode.

The guarding is excellent for chafing and minor cutting and nicks, but will not help much with crushing damage. I would also think in your case, sun damage.

I see no downside to sheaths or sleeves over hydraulic hoses other than the cost and the time it takes to install. I sleeved the hoses on my EA Wicked grapple, and have added sleeves to other implements. The snow blower that I bought used came with sleeved hoses for the chute angle and rotation. I like the aesthetics in addition to the added protection.

So you're saying, "Always wrap your hose." Drill Sergent said that too.

I'm out of state this week for work but did ask my local Kubota dealer to order the rear wiper and defrost kits for the M6060 which includes an alternator upgrade. Last summer I remember having a hard time seeing out the back window when pulling the cutter around as the sun gets low in the sky. The dust that gets over everything really affects visibility so a rear wiper will help. The defrost feature is a "heck, why not?" kind of thing, although I'm using the M6060 more during the winter months than I used to.

I still need to install the air ride pedestal that I bought a couple of years ago, and in order to do that, the seat has to come out through the rear window, so it'll be a good time to do that since I need to remove the current rear glass in order to install the new glass.

The entire upgrade is around $1,200 when ordered through sales (not parts) so it's very reasonable given that it includes a bigger alternator, three pieces of glass with the heater wire in them, a rear wiper and switches.

Had to plow again today, got a got 4-6 inches of just light and fluffy stuff. But I had fun plowing. Each time I go to plow with the tractor I feel more comfortable and able to do it quicker each time and do a cleaner job. I even moved some snow I shovelled into a pile from my walk way that's been building up since the start of winter.

I had fun building a snowbank today, probably my biggest one yet!

Hopefully next winter I'll have cylinder on the blade to make it even easier to plow.

Expected some storm snow earlier.

Didn’t show up, but now Lake Effect is organizing.

Talking rain Friday. If snow doesn’t get too heavy, will leave it.

Went to college in Oswego. As I'm sure you are aware, one spot can get dumped on and 20 minutes away gets nothing. Lake effect snow is a hell of a thing to experience.

What you been looking up on Temu? 🤣
I saw that.

Don’t know anything about Temu.

At least they look like attractive women…😉

I decided to go out and peel off some of the 3-4” we had. I still leave quite a bit.

Broke the shear pin on the impeller right away. Was a quick replacement.

My LED work lights above the ROPS aren’t anything fancy, but they certainly work….

First time doing some loader work with the new to me LX3310. Even though it's rated at the same HP and lift capacity as my JD4310 it ain't much of a tractor comparatively. That extra 1000 lbs of weight on the JD must count for something. I also have generic cylinders so my JD is way stronger in loader capability.

It's still the best lawn mower I've had though. I also learned it rides better with the loader on so I will probably leave it on come mowing season.

Don't forget to ask for the old parts to be returned. They will have value to someone else who might need them for replacements should they break a glass.
