A few months back I picked up a late 70's B6000 that I have puttering around with. It needs a lot of reworking in general, but the last few times I've run it, the engine will keep motoring when I attempt to shut it off with the throttle (which I believe is recommended)

Trying to gain some knowledge on the syste, I'm assuming the thottle is connected to some manner of needle valve/ seat assembly that would dictate fuel flow? Also, do these tractors have any sort of fuel shutoff solenoid? Looking in the IPC, I see a 37150-32243 listed as a "safety switch" but not sure how all that interacts with the fuel system, I'm not particulary used to working on mechanical diesels.

quik like a bunny....
go to www.kubotabooks.com, tractors, 1/4 way down, there's the B6000 WSM !!!!!
download it, free

It's 'mandatory' to have the wiring diagram(in Electrical section ) when working on ANT machine. Really helps when one of the previous owners 'modified' or 'upgraded' the original wiring.

I don't know your machine but it sound like the 'shut fuel off' solenoid isn't working..BUT... grab the WSM, read up about 'how-it-works'.
In the meantime 5-6 will reply with check this or that.....

Thanks, I alrady had the service manual, but hadn't seen the fuel section in 4.2.1

The b6000 does not have a fuel solenoid or any form of electrical shut off.

The fuel is cut when the linkage for the injection pump is pulled against the spring on the rod and closes the injection pump.
I'm assuming the thottle is connected to some manner of needle valve/ seat assembly that would dictate fuel flow?
The method that it controls fuel is rotary delivery valves, no needle and seat.
DO NOT get into the injection pump, there is no internal adjustments.

It sounds like you simply have a throttle rod length or adjustment issue.
There should be a stop / spring adjustment on the rod the controls the fuel.

Thanks, I'll take a look at that. Seemed odd that a mechanical adjutment would change itself, hence why I was thinking electrical.

To be a bit more specific about shutting down the engine. But I have no experience with your exact model.

You must hold the injection pump closed until the engine has completely shut down (stopped spinning). The operation manual says to push and hold the acceleration lever toward the front of the tractor to shut it down.

On my similar vintage L185 there is a separate lever to hold that shuts down the engine but it basically does the exact same thing by moving the rack linkage further than the acceleration lever does. If I let it go too soon, the engine often goes back to idle even though it was pretty close to stopping.

Understood. I've been holding the lever fully forward. Previously it would shut off after a few seconds. Currently, with lever in the full forward psosiion, it will continue to motor right on the verge of shutting off for atleast 30 seconds if not longer.

I played with the spring and linkage last night to allow the rod to travel as far forward as posiible with the spring full colappsed, yet to try it and see what all that might have changed
