I checked with the dealer and he only has new RTVX-1100C around $25K.

I spent today calling a lot of dealers checking used hoping to find one less. I did but not many, and some had many hours.

I am leaning towards the Boss V plow and will try to install it myself. Fingers crossed. I am not adverse to DIY but the dealers cost to install sounds like and all day event so I'm planning on about two days for me.

And yes I am hoping to use it a lot during summer for hauling firewood, mulch etc.

I really like ItBeMine's setup in post #35. That is what I am hoping have. and then I should be set for the rest of my years clearing snow.

PaulL #29 I currently us the back blade on my tractor, but try not to get too close to things that are expensive. like the garage door and house. I already had to buy a new garage door for my sons house when I was backing in and miss judged the 12 foot 2x4s hanging out the back of my pick up bed. Yeah that could have been an olympic event....synchronized @#$%^%%$#@&*()(*&^%$#ing.

curious... starting price in Canada is $34,000+ !!! or yeah, 13% taxes on that..

if it's a 2 seater version, would you add 'jump seats' in the dump box ??
Have never run a V-plow, seems complicated ( aka $$$$ ) for pushing white....

Sometimes we get a lot of snow, and the only way around "hand shoveling" is to get one of those attachments that you screw on the bed to get the shoveling done........they call them "wife's"

Kind of expensive, but well worth it. 🍻
I'm pretty sure that if I suggest to my wife that I screw her on the bed and then she do some shovelling....well, let's just say it wouldn't go well.

I have an RTV 900 that I bought new in 2006 and is still going strong. My daughter and SIL have a newer model RTV 900 with a snow plow and they love it. They put the heaver front springs on for the plow. Talk to a dealer about a plow and installing the heaver springs. If the RTV you are looking at has been taken care of and you are comfortable with the cost, go for it. Next to a BH, the RTV was one of my best purchases for the farm.
I have a 2 seater 2024 model and put a cheap KFI 6 ft poly pro plow I had and haven't been able to damage it. The biggest issue is shifting from foward to reverse. I have alot of tight spots and have to back up alot. This machine is hard to shift without a plow and after pushing up a pile even with the brake fully depressed it's a bear to get in reverse. If you just have long straight runs it plows great. Plows require heavy duty struts that are fairly easy to swap out and I think on that model you can just replace the coils to save money.

Hi Guys, If I get an open station one or like sidekicks with top and windshield only, will I have a problem with the inside of the windshield frosting up and not being able to see? Shouldn't the fact that it is not enclosed and letting in cold air keep this from happening?

N.Y,
Mine has the glass windshield and I have a 8k diesel heater mounted up on the rollbar under the roof with 2 ducts blowing on the windshield. Also made a plastic back window to keep snow blowing from the back out and foam sealing the roof gaps. I bought a cheap manual windshield wiper from Amazon to keep snow off. No problem with fogg or the snow on the outside. Plus steering wheel area stays warm if not real windy out. When comparing remember a roof, glass windshield heavy struts due to windshield and plow, plus rear window will add about $2800 to the open models price.

I have known guys to put windshields on their open station tractors, and they have been fine. So I would think it should work well for you.

I know nothing about RVT's
But I've owned several snowplows. I used to be brand loyal made in Maine fisher.
Then I tried a Boss plow. Unbelievable in every way compared to fisher.
While your fighting the fisher lift chain to get the plow on.
Your all done plowing with with the Boss.
There are lots of cheap plow setups.
SnowDogg ect.
If you want the best. Get a Boss straight or V doesn't matter.

aw come on guys, buy the cheapest Made in China krap...
after all GW/CC means no more snow, soon, real soon !!!! ;)

but honestly, what plow you get , spend the time to properly set it up. usually takes 2-3 snows to 'dial in' all the adjustments, after that you'll be fine.

I did a quick video about setting up a KFI plow. Simple bracket swap for level angling

Is it overpriced? YES. Do I love it? YES!! LOL

I've never put ballast, but I had to bring firewood to house, so figured I'd just leave some in the dump box. Will only help with even more traction.
When first married, I drove 2WD pickups because I couldn't afford 4WD.

We also burned firewood.

I used to joke with people that sometimes my firewood had 1,000's of miles on it.

Drove nearly a full load of firewood all winter long......did wonders! ;)

Me too because I always had 77 F100's. And I used to put one of my spare dump truck rims and tires in the back of it.
It's amazing we got around as long as we did considering there were no fancy winter tires back then either, LOL

Very true - -

Can't swear my memory is right, but quite sure I bought re-tread snow tires at times. Only ran them on drive wheels; not fronts. For some reason $15 or 18 each sticks in my head. Don't think you can get them anymore for light trucks?

I do remember buying used winter tires many times.

This will be lost on all you American friends, but up here the big thing used to be those Canadian Tire bias ply mud and and snow tires that looked like R1 agricultural tires, LOL
There was nothing funnier then seeing my dad's Mach 1 and my uncles Boss 302 with those on the back in the winter.

Heck I drove them until May and when anyone said 'you need Cragars and xxx tires', I'd says fine YOU buy them, I'll put them on... Funny how nobody ever bought 'neat looking tires and rims ' for me....

best tires on my CJ-5 were Goodyear Suburbanites, 40K MILES on/off road, plow snow all day,all night...that's when we HAD snow... ( Northern FLA got more snow in one dump, than me TOTAL this winter )
