some reasons for selling..... moving, age, health, divorce, lost interest,no longer needed, wife says so.....

'poly' plows should last a long time, unless you magically 'find' that skid you KNOW was on the OTHER side of the barn.

curious as to the actual weight difference between a poly plow vs steel.ONLY diff should be the 'skin' ?
About the same weight. A poly plow has a steel frame that is quite heavy but flexible.

Hmmm.....I've never had an issue with my Boss vee plow pushing my RTX sideways or losing traction with no weight in the bed. I'm running the work sight tires.
I just tried moving a foot of slushy wet snow and with the plow angled had to steer into the bank to keep a straight line. Guess you don't have dense lake snow or heavy wet snow storms. Still waiting for a 2 ft storm to see how it handles it. I'm just playing with it now on warm days and probably going to dump mine since getting the cab tractor that is more comfortable and capable. I only have a little over 20 hours on it because it's so slow and hhard to shift. The worksite tires I had on the sidekick were useless in snow. They would pack full and loose traction. Are you plowing on blacktop?

I live on lake Superior and I have a gravel driveway and hills. But I also don't wait until it's ridiculously bad to plow. I don't know? It and those tires worked for me.
But I swapped it out for the K-Connect and blower because a blower is easier on machine, will go through anything and is easier for my wife to operate.

We are just south of lake Ontario. I really can't see how you can justify the blower cost. It's still a noisy machine with uncomfortable seats and seating position, low powered and slow. Guess for over 40k invested I would just go with a newer truck and plow that was comfortable. The price of these machines and accessories has gone crazy lately.

Well, I had an F550 with a Boss plow and it sat here all winter. Visibility sucks and just starting it burnt more fuel than the Kubota's use all winter.
The price of the blower setup for the RTV is disgusting for sure. But sometimes my wife has to clean the yard and she absolutely loves the RTV now. It made her life a 100 times easier.
And I never sell anything, so it's a lifetime purchase as with all my other stuff. At least I was lucky enough to get the RTV before the covid pricing took effect on them.
It is slow for trail riding and a bit loud at full throttle, but I don't find it uncomfortable or underpowered at all. it's faster than a tractor with a blower.

Hi guys,

Sorry I've been out of the conversation for a few days but I have just been pondering things.

If it works I am attaching a picture from the BOSS plow manual the dealer gave me.

IMG_1959.jpg

After reviewing the specs of the RTV-X 1140 again, the turning radius is 17ft. and the turn around area in front of my garage is what I struggle with on my tractor using the back blade.

Now I find myself leaning more to the RTV-X 1100 two seater, with a turning radius of only 13 ft. And since using it for plowing is really high on my priority list I guess when the grand children come over they will just have to take turns going for rides. I stopped out at the dealers lot today and got a look at the 1100 cab models like ItBMine and really like it. I really like ItBMine set up with the blower. My dads old Sears garden tractor had a blower and was great for all the reasons previously listed.

There is a YouTuber I watch regularly, Adam from "Hometown Acres" and he started with a blade on a two seater and ended up going to a front mounted blower powered by a self contained four cycle gas engine and he really likes it also. Unfortunately on the Kubota website it lists the 1100 cab model starting at $26,000. Yeah crazy expensive. So I am now leaning towards the RTV-X 1100 with no cab and just opting for the roof and windshield. And the worksite tires. Lots of videos of guys using and liking them. I live east of Cleveland ohio in the snow-belt and the last four winters haven't been too bad, only a couple big snows each year but this year I have already cleared my driveway and my neighbors, about a dozen or more times and at 5-6 inches each time. Some have been wet and heavy.

The bed is still a good size to haul firewood and having a 2"receiver in the rear I can haul my log splitter to the pile instead of vise versa.

My wife is looking forward to driving it (during the summer) although I don't see her clearing snow with it so I just need to make up my mind and by going with the 1100 two seater I'll cut the cost and put it towards the v-plow or blower both similar in cost.

How does the V-plow go across the front of your garage? Would you not want a straight angle plow to push it away from the garage?

I don't have it yet but what I do now is shovel by hand about six feet away from the house and the garage door and then use the back blade, so I would do the same and that would make enough room to drive in and push away from garage.

Plus the benefit of a v plow is it can angle from a straight blade to a v blade to a point for cleaning sidewalks etc.

Back blade on your tractor, or back blade on the RTV? Seems like there must be a solution that mostly or entirely avoids any shovelling at all. Says he who lives in a country where we don't get snow on the ground.....

Consider the adjustable V plow with the split in the middle. It is more expensive but gives you the best method if you go the plow route.

That's the machine I have. With a plow you just raise the blade and backdrag the first 6 ft if it's not over 8 to 10 inches deep. I added a diesel heater to keep the windshield de fogged and started making plastic doors but decided closing it in would make it too loud inside and bought a cab tractor that has a comfortable seat. I still use it to plow a big circle in the yard for dog walking on warm days. Definitely drive one before buying as they are slow, uncomfortable seat position, and hard to shift when plowing. I made the mistake of watching others reviews and not driving first.

I have a 6ft Fisher "V" on my Can-am Defender Limited, it works great. It's a bit heavy @350lbs on the front so I added about 250lbs o block in the bed to offset the weight and keep traction.
2 year with it and on problems.

I have a 5x8 trailer that I use behind mine. It works great for hauling fire wood. I can load it brime full and the rtv does not care. I have the job site tires, and they have been much better that I thought they would be.

When backing into tight areas, I use the front hitch, it makes life easy.

It can angle every which way and also both wings forward to scoop.

Well I'm not your financial advisor but I will say this. For YEARS I argued on here about how I'm a real man and don't mind blowing with my open station tractors. Well I can tell you, I finally got to use the RTV tonight in a storm with wind and I LOVED IT!!!
So do yourself a favor and buy a cab the first time before prices go up even more. I was lucky, I bought my 2021 RTV back in late 2020 for just over $24,000 Canadian and they are $35,000 here now.
A cabbed tractor is nice too, but I can take 2 passengers if I want.

As for the Boss plow, it does the job and is WAY cheaper than the blower setup. It does good back dragging from buildings and it has a very good range of motion. And as you can see in these pics, it can stack pretty good too.

The other thing nice about the Boss plow is when you take it off, you lose no ground clearance at all. Your RTV is back to stock for trail riding.

With the K-Connect for my blower, I have lost a few inches now because the driveline has to stay on.

Sometimes we get a lot of snow, and the only way around "hand shoveling" is to get one of those attachments that you screw on the bed to get the shoveling done........they call them "wife's"

Kind of expensive, but well worth it. 🍻

Big boy toys. When the legs start to give out get wheels 😁. Plus grandkids think they're cool and fun.

But a heated driveway requires less maintenance and upkeep 🤔.
