The bucket and pallet forks work great for loading wood onto the deck for the week.
Saves a bunch of going up and down the stairs.

We'll see how it starts in -20 or -30*c but so far it starts the same at -5* as it does at +20*... Lot's of glow plugs and a few 15 or 20 second cranking sessions.
I've got lots of proven backup options for those temperatures so it's not a big deal if it doesn't start. And the extra stairs at those temperatures help keep warm.

Well it was -15*c here today and it wouldn't start.
I didn't have the inline coolant heater plugged in or anything though.
Just gave it a quick try to see if it would.
I think the battery is getting weak as it turned over pretty slow.
Next time I'll try with a little more preparation and see how it goes.

Thats prest normal for these engine.
Block / radiator hose heater will help, pre heat about an hour.
Also a battery maintainer is good for the battery too!

Yes that will be the next attempt.
Battery maintainer on prior, plug in the heater for an hour and give it a go.
If it still doesn't want to start then pull the air filter and give the intake some hot air with a heat gun.

I've been reading about gear reduction starters and I might look at finding one that'll fit. It seems like even in summer the engine doesn't turn over very quick.
If the starter is 50 years old it could be tiring out.

6-12" of snow expected here over the next day + the 2-3" that fell already.
Used the ATV to get a load of wood to the house... After tomorrow there should be enough snow to use the skidoo and sled.

Classic Top Gear and a roaring fire after the kids and wife go to bed.
Winters not see so bad.

Got a decent dump of snow today.
Didn't try to start the tractor but put the battery maintainer on it.
I did try to start the skidoo tundra ii but it looks like the fuel pickup line in the tank rotted out over the summer. It's not getting any fuel to the pump.
Looks like that Tygon fuel line I bought to replace on the B6000 will get some more use.

Used the Husqvarna R322T to snowblow the driveway.

I've been looking into these gear reduction starters...
I think this DB electric SND0289 should fit as long as the larger gear reduction housing instead of the solenoid doesn't stick up and hit the engine case.

It lists as compatible with the G1800 and G1900 which are on the list of the original direct drive starter for the B6000 as well.

I'm tempted to try it out at that price and being Amazon it's easy to return if it doesn't fit...
It's just going to get more expensive next year.

I had the battery maintainer on for a few days and it said it was fully charged but it didn't seem to crank any faster... Mind you I didn't have the coolant heater plugged in prior so the oil in the crank pan would have still been close to molasses at -15 with 5w40 synthetic. But everything else I own cranks over at the same speed with a good battery.

With the amount of cranking with the starter summer or winter, I'd be surprised if all these B6000's wouldn't benefit from a new or rebuilt starter.

Plus the debacle with the wiring harness this summer, who knows how long it was trying to start before the battery died.

Ordered it today.
Hopefully it shows up early next week as it's supposed to warm up above freezing for a few days.

I replaced the fuel line in the Tundra skidoo last week in -15c and I think I got a touch of frost bite in my pinky finger from the -15 or below gas while draining the last of the tank and getting the hose and filter out.

It's got feeling again in it finally...

Took tomorrow off of work to get 2 final days of hunting in. Started the second day of the season with an elk so hopefully the second last day will be with a white tail. It'll be -25*c in the morning but they seem to be in full rut up here finally.

Well, no luck with the deer. Saw a couple of little bucks but since there is an elk in the freezer already they get to grow bigger for next year.
A cold day out hunting in the bush is better than a warm day in the office no matter the temperature.

It is not easy to find in the USA, and likely nearly impossible in Canada.
If you do find it, (Home Hardware, or NAPA?) the price will drive you insane!
Kroil is available through your local Kubota dealer, although few will stock and sell something with that discussing, sickening odor that permeates the entire shop for days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have had a can for 6 weeks now comparing it to BG in-force. I am sticking with the BG as it is just as good and since I will not spray the Kroil indoors again.

Success!
It fit no problem.
It was around freezing and the battery was just off the trickle charger but it definitely sounds like it has more power through the compression stroke.
I took a video of the old one cranking cold and the new one right after installation that I will post once I figure out how to combine them.

After installation of the new gear reduction starter I helped my brother move some newly delivered pallet racking from his driveway to his barn with the pallet forks.
It definitely needs another couple hundred pounds on the back end with pallet forks sticking way out there but it got the job done.
