You guys are getting me excited! I'm also preparing for my first upcoming sap season. 2025 will be my first year attempting to make syrup. I'll be using a DIY 55 gallon barrel method. Starting small only 10-12 taps. We'll have to start thread in the off-topic section.

Oh, and the deer isn't mine. I let a friend hunt my land. He reaps the benefit of the tractor, in trade he gives me some venison.

I understand that it is food and where it comes from. I grew up on a ranch in central Texas so have seen many animals slaughtered. But that doesn’t mean I want to see a dead animal now.

I just don’t want to see it on a tractor based thread, same as not wanting to see severed fingers or deep cuts.

But the facts are that is an ANIMAL and it is DEAD and the thread I linked to was set up by a moderator so that DEAD ANIMAL pictures can go there.

Popped a bead on front right tire. LX2610.

Previously...

In the morning I noticed that the tire was low. Aired it up to spec.

Used the forks on the loader for a few minutes and then noticed the tire bead was off of the rim. Ah shoot.
Cleaned up the wheel rim and tire bead front and back side with soapy water and used the ratchet strap method and a soft hammer to seat it. Put air in and it's good to go.

Some little things turn into bigger things unless you catch them.

I really dread the day that happens to me. I have ballast in all 4 tires (courtesy of the dealer) and oversized tires to boot. That’s gonna make a mess if I lose the rim seal.

The radio base is about the size of the foundation that the idiot previous owner put in for a basketball goal next to the driveway. I’ll give you three guesses where the main water line was, and the first two don’t count. I won’t go into detail about how I found the line while jackhammering the goal foundation out. Once I “found” the line I didn’t see much point in trying to be careful. Took some wigglin and pullin, but finally got it out. I was surprised the LX could lift it, but I hauled it to the back of the lot with the grapple. It’s basically 30x30x30, so nearly a cubic yard of concrete. I guess their kids must have been the size of Shaq.

Snow is already falling in the mountains so it was time to remove the Del Morino flail, swap the hydraulic top link for the hydraulic side link (I only have three rear remotes), install the snowblower and install the hydraulic angle blade. I've said this before, but I'm a big fan of the Outback hose marking wrap. It makes hooking up the side link and snow blower as simple as can be. No chance of getting it wrong.

I also ordered a hydraulic hose support for the snow blower. I should have taken care of this long ago, but like many things, it takes a while. The hoses for the chute angle cylinder are long and typically I use a bungee cord to keep them from getting snagged as the chute is rotated, but I figured I'd do it properly and install one of the type that's on my Land Pride folding cutter.

I need to get the grass of the folding cutter in preparation for winter storage!

Popped a hydro line. In the boom of course. Looks like it’s had interference with the cylinder fittings by the location of the rupture. I did replace it about 10 years ago. Was all the way out long and low and it made that unmistakable noise with the river of fluid after. New line ordered, project on hold

Not much. Brought box and back blades next to the house on a patio for winter.

They’re usually stored on the North 40 a ways away. Not good if we get 3 feet of snow.

I can blow snow right up to them, turn around and hook up.

Sometimes I need back blade for wet slushy snow. Sometimes I want the box blade if we get heavy rain that erodes the stone driveway. Thankfully driveway erosion hasn’t happened in years.

Excuse the leaves- just blew them out of there yesterday. Been breezy.

Those implements probably look like toys for you guys with bigger tractors.

If you’ve been on OTT for a while you may have seen my complaints about the OEM top link on BX tractors a decade ago.

I replaced OEM a long time ago, but needed one a little shorter for my back blade.

This is the replacement and really like it.

Instead of buying another, decided to take the OEM off the shelf and try it again.

One end was locked up solid and over-tightened. I might have done that wrestling with it years ago, although I knew how a top link worked.

Some redneck “cologne”, bench press and some pry bars freed it up.

Still don’t care for it but it just might be the ticket for the winter with the back blade.

I ordered a hydraulic hose support for the snow blower yesterday, but rather than wait a couple of weeks for the next Land Pride order to arrive at the local Kubota dealer, I decided to use one of the hydraulic hose supports from the RC3712 folding cutter.

It was a simple thing this morning to make up a bracket using scrap steel. I decided to drill an extra hole in the piece of angle where the bracket was to be located so that the bracket wouldn't rotate, which it could do with just one bolt holding it to the frame. I'm pleased with how it turned out and how quick and easy it was to get it all sorted, but still need to rotate the chute to make sure that the hoses react as expected.

I wanted to paint the heads of the mounting bolts for protection but got carried away, hence the copious amount of paint at the bottom of the bracket.

I finally finished my Bushhogging this morning....just before the rain came.

The saplings are mostly Sweetgum and Persimmon.

And some of the Persimmon was tractor high. Lotsa briers too. I had to stop a few times and clear the debris from the radiator screens. My shooting house is on the ridge in the distance straight ahead and above the center of the FEL.

That old M4900 and 3008 Bushhog were happy to finish. Heck, I was too. A Wheat/Oat food plot is beyond the bushhog. I am pleased with it and will broadcast a couple of sacks of Ammonia on each plot within the next few weeks.

Like that it shows volts, frequency, hours total and hours for a session.

Just got a new rescue last saturday after Libby passed in september. Layla, the one we got is supposed to be Australian CD but too small, think she is mostly rough coat jack russell. She is a bundle of energy but settling in nicely.

Bill, it's great to hear that you have taken in a rescue and please share some photos. I find most animals to be irresistible, particularly dogs and cats.

My little inspector was a rescue back in February of 2016. She'd rather look for deer or other critters than worry about the quality of my work. She's a Heeler mix with the other part most likely being Border Collie or Australian Shepherd. I've had large dogs my entire life including four Rottweilers and a Great Pyrenees, but this little girl has been the most amazing 40lb companion. She goes everywhere with me, but due to severe arthritis in her front elbows she's getting a monthly shot of Librela as well as Gabapentin every day, and both seem to help. She's most likely 11 or 12 years old and still enjoying life so I hope she hangs around for a few more years.

The hose loop spring is a Land Pride/Kubota version that I removed from the folding cutter. It's part #26 in the schematic and the Land Pride part number is 807-073C which is described as a "SPRING HOSE LOOP HEAVY". When the new ~$60 spring hose loop shows up in a couple of weeks I'll put that one on the folding cutter to replace the one I borrowed. I "borrowed" the bolt, nut and washer too so will have to replace those as well.
