It's a mix for me. I might have missed one or two but here's the break down.Do most folks purchase implements from a dealer, online or a place like Tractor Supply?
I’ve tried online auctions but I don’t have the cajones for those folks…maybe you can find a unicorn at an auction, but I sure haven’t had the right the price point. I’ve given up on the auctions.
Honestly, I think it is a little of both. I’ve legitimately tried to buy stuff and I have seen rusted scrap go for price of new or higher in some cases. I am sure with patience you can find a unicorn. The other thing is it’s really hard to tell if something wrong or how much TLC is needed. Some places will answer emails or calls and others won’t. Usually sales are final, so it a buyer beware for sure. Once figure in the sellers fee and getting something loaded and shipped (usually have to pick up pretty quick or pay a shipper) that implement that was loved hard and left in fence row gets expensive real quick.I hear ya.
I am quickly realizing auctions are very "hit and miss".
One of 2 things is happening.
Either the owner has a "shill bidder" bidding their stuff up to a predetermined minimum,
Or people are just "batshit crazy".
I just started looking for a "real lathe", and I am approaching this exact conclusion at warp speed.Honestly, I think it is a little of both. I think best bet to buy used is buy local as much as possible where you can go look at it yourself or with a friend and bring home on your trailer if it makes sense.
Tractor Supply sells light duty stuff IMO.Do most folks purchase implements from a dealer, online or a place like Tractor Supply?
