I bought a case of spam during the pandemic but still haven't worked up the courage to pop open a can to try it šŸ˜¬. I think it will be saved for the next lock down.
If you're ever in my neck of NYS -- leave it on my porch....it'll be fine there quite a while.

I can put it to use but will need to hide it from the Mrs.....! ;)

I think that Baloney/Bologna is whether you are full of crap or hungry and made from the same unmentionables as Vienna Sausage. I keep teasing my wife about Spam, but she says NO!!

If there's anything "mechanically separated" in the ingredients, you don't REALLY want to know.:oops:

As a kid all our deli products were something "Loaf.." Olive, pickle, pepper, etc.

Usually our sammiches were eaten in the cow barn after morning milking......

Some days we got PBJ - - one of our cows named Peaky stood next to walkway between milkhouse and barn floor, and always looked for her cut...she could smell PBJ and loved them.

She got half a sandwich. Can still see her eyes get real wide when she smelled them. She knew....

Now as a former Health Inspector, nothing to worry about there! :oops:

They did fill up farm boys and I still cherish it. Maybe that's why I still like some of that stuff.

Takes me back.;)

I bought a sack of green peanuts this morning.

And they are now making themselves busy in da boiling pot. After the shells are tender I will let them soak in the salted water until mid afternoon. They should be good by then.

I will put some chickin landing gear on the Weber about then.

Have to admit a good part of it is me, and not the Mrs.

Helps keep Peace in the Valley, if you know what Iā€™m sayingā€¦..

I only buy fritos when I make chili, but the N laws left a bag, so I'm not gonna let them go to waste.
Well-known among my former coworkers was my like for chips.

We used to celebrate National Potato Chip Day on March 14 each year. Sometimes had 50+ bags of various potato and corn chips of different origins/flavors for our event.

Brought a bunch home for retirement gifts recently.

The Fritos are goneā€¦.šŸ˜‹

The finished product still looks like the raw. The shells are softer and the "nut" is soft and sorta mushy and of course salty. We boiled them at a get-to-gather in Michigan a few years ago and the Southerners ate-um-up but the "Glaciated folks" generally did not care for them so I reckon that it is a sorta acquired taste.

Being ā€œglaciatedā€ myself, that makes perfect sense.

Iā€™m always open to new food ideas and flavors.

Love Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches.

Boiled peanuts sounds like one I could take a pass onā€¦..no offense @Magicmanā€¦. ;)

PS - now that I think about it - I've seen boiled peanuts at a food booth at the NY State Fair years ago and passed...

Not sure I'd expect to get a good boiled peanut at the New York State Fair anyway.... :rolleyes:

I was just curious if they came from Texas, cause we just moved from Floresville, Peanut Capitol of Texas, to our farm, which is an hour South of Floresville.

We have farmers here that plant peanuts as a secondary crop, so locally grown.

I always planted a patch of peanuts when I was a kid growing up. You could never do it there now because of the deer. We had no deer nor turkeys in the 1950's.
