Little help on a Massey Ferguson 255

Long story short when inherited per se a Massey Ferguson 255 I have less than an hour on tractors in general. This is going to be a tractor for a large property an hour and a half away. I am going to buy me a B2601 in the spring. my question is the lever on the right has an in the middle. Can you guys help me out and let me know what the S stands for?

This tractor will be used for Bushhogging mainly

"S" is for start, or neutral for real. There SHOULD be a neutral safety switch on top of the trans, inline with the lever under the dash area.
