What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

My land was harvested of almost all the hardwood right before I bought it 40+ years ago. I had the softwood harvested about 10 years ago and the logger said that removing the softwood would allow the remaining hardwood to flourish. He wasn't wrong, and it is getting close to the time to do another selective cutting. Partially thinning the trees helps the rest to grow, and will help you with some $$$ to buy more of whatever you want or put it away for a time when you will need it. I am a believer in investments that have a history of growing through the years. The only mistake that I made was not selling my GE stock when the price was high.

Dunno how you got your GE Stock, but I hope you weren't another Jeff Immelt victim. I could rant for hours about that man, but I'll sum it up and just say there's a special place in Hell waiting for him.

Cleaned up after today's storm. We got about a foot of heavy wet snow. I was pleased at how well the blower handled it. Manipulating the rear blade is a whole lot easier now that I have the rear remotes installed. Power went out early this morning and is not back yet.

The $$$ would ease my pain a bit if we have to harvest. 40 acres of 100 year old short leaf pines, 25 acres of 75 year old hardwoods including a few dozen large black walnuts, and the rest excepted for being near the houses. No clue what that’s worth. Pretty sure it’s worth something.

They’re not a good fit for all scenarios but our little 16kW IMD has made occasional power outages much more pleasant. Life is better with air conditioning and hot water. The TV and iPad seem to be the equivalent of a pacifier for the wife so that’s kind of a nice collateral benefit.

I collected dividends for decades so even though I didn't get out at the high water mark, I more than made up for it in the dividends.

My wife helped me move some Hedge that I cut, out of a pasture. Some of the Hedge will be posts, but most will become BTUs. We plan to burn the pasture soon.

It is close to 1 year old. The stove, & the building the stove will heat, has not been constructed yet. That wood will have more time to season. The building should go up in May. I’ll build the stove in the Fall. In the background, there is plenty more wood that is 4-5 years old.

Hedge you call it. Those look like trees. Is that area an old orchard? Is hedge a kind of tree? On my side of the county a hedge is a tight grouping of bushes that are planted in a line and maintained as a privacy screen. Sometimes fast growing narrow evergreen trees are used.

The brome is growing great. The native grass (that needs burning) has lots of dead fodder. Look under the loader in the background. That pasture didn’t get grazed much last year.

I note that you have applied Herculiner, or similar, to the deck of your BH.
I am thinking I should do that also.

I put all the heavier scraps of iron I have laying around on the landscaping rake and ran it up and down the runway plus the trails I ride my bikes on. The extra weight really helps in getting the results I'm after. I also have a 100 year old harrow that I can drag around, but the rake is easier to manuver.

Had to take care of more heavy spring snow this morning. We got about a foot up at the house. It was elevation dependent. When I got down the looong hill to the town road there was only about 6". The road was soft and muddy so I shortened the float chain and ran the plow like a dozer blade. With it angled to throw snow to the left the FEL lever gives me raise, lower, drop right edge with dump, drop left edge with curl. I try to get close to the gravel w/o turning it up. I go slow and it take practice.

Heavy, heavy Spring snow, 15-17", blowing hard to tell. I had to bust out of the 450' driveway. It was tough going on the uphill.
