Yesterday after work my neighbor dairy farmer/maple producer stopped.
He asked “I might be crazy but do you mind if I add another 40 or so taps?”
Maple season is about done but sap is still running. Syrup is dark and has been. I think he gets a decent price/lb. for commercial syrup. Was about $3/# years ago.
Of course I had no problem with it. He’ll leave some of the tubing up to be ready next season.
Nice young man of 40 or so. Glad to have him here.
With some other additions, makes about 200 taps on our place. I get paid $1/tap.
Seems odd to have taps put in this late, but we’re glad to help.

All together we probably have a few thousand feet of tubing scattered about.
He take all this tubing down as there’s a power company ROW through this area.
