The wife suggested that we consider putting down sod instead of seeding it. I did some checking and it is about 68 cents per square foot. Just don't know how much that I will need. 1000 square feet minimum for delivery with a $65 delivery charge for 2 pallets if you order from one supplier, and another is higher priced, but no delivery fee. Just need to figure out how much we will need.
Measure length and width. If its oblong, round, or otherwise, break it down into many or few squares, right triangles, or rectangles. Do so and add the total of them all up.
Examples are:

A 10 foot by 30 foot section is 300 SF (square feet): 10 x 30 = 300

30 by 40 feet section = 1200 SF

A 30 by 40 right triangle is: 30 times 40 times .5. Measure the 90 degree or perpendicular lines.

If you know trig, than do that. You won't need right triangles with trig. You make them. But you'll need to be able to measure at least one angle. Use a cheap protractor and a snap line. Trigonometric geometry.

If you have a drone with a good camera and some yard sticks, you could digitize it.

Back in the day we digitized off of blueprints, and added a percentage. They still do it that way today, but the software programs and digitizer tables are much better now.

Want 1" of topsoil... under your sod? formula is : Total SF divided by 12. That with give you CF. (Cubic Feet)

Want 2" of topsoil... Total SF divided by 6. That will give you CF.

Want that CF in CY (cubic yards). Take your CF total and divide it by 27.

Have fun with it.

Sod, here in Ontario, comes in 10 sqft rolls, 2x5'. Makes for easy math. Check with sod supplier, usually posted online. They'll also place skids 'here, there' within reason.
Price out x2 amount of seed need for the area vs sod and sod will win.Yes more labour but ONLY one. Seed you have to reseed twice over the next year to get a lawn 3 years from now as nice as sod and that's after YOU water it, as required for the first few months.
Get a big 4' roller, run dry over the soil BEFORE you lay the sod down, lay then water real good, then 'water as required'. You want the grass roots to go deep to get established. Also just 'trim' the new grass, keep 4" high, NO brush cuts allowed !!!

Just go to Google Earth. You can get all the dimensions you need. First you have to locate your property!!!! ;) Mark a starting point, move the the next corner, then the next. Shape doesn't matter. You can get sq ft, acres, etc.
