Kubota V1505 engine ...... Questions about a block heater...Updated.

Just went out to plug my tractor in and had a look at where the cords run. I've got one in the block and a heat pad on the outside of the oil pan. Explains why it fires right up after being plugged in for an hour. I had a similar setup on my 84' jeep cj10a with the addition of a battery heater, worked great but I had to use a 10ga. Extension cord and 20a outlet.

While wiring up some rop lights I found a 3rd heater on the transmission.

Looks more like a Fairbanks set-up.
Maybe Kubota should offer this as a cold climate package?

It explains why everything seems to run great right out of the gate when it's. 10f out. (Usually plug it in 30min to an hour before starting) Supposed to be -10f middle of next week, so I'll see how good it works then.

Is vehicle rust a problem in Alaska? (i.e. do they use salt on the roads?)

They use calcium chloride in some areas, but not statewide. The farther north you go in Alaska the less common it is. Not really a problem where I live.

Jeep is heavily modified but one of 3000 that came with a factory installed Nissan sd33 diesel engine. 2200 went to Australia with manual transmissions and 800 were bobbed and went to the usaf with automatics.
