Dave, Thank you very much! LarryFirst remove the cable from the instrument and run the engine to see if the cable inside is rotating.
If it is then connect the cable back to the tach and connect a drill to the far end of the cable to see if you can make the tach needle move.
If all else fails look for an automotive instrument repair shop in your area as car restoration people use them all the time.
Contact forum member 007kubotaguy who is often parting out old L series and may have a good tach.

I recall that the engine part of the tach drive was a problem on these. The gears would fail or something. So if the cable is nor spinning it is probably that driver. And I think that is an obsolete part.hello,
i have a L175. The rpm gauge does not work. the cable has been replaced. any ideas? Thanks,Larry

Yes that looks like the tach drive for some engine that is similar to what you need.
Kubota showed two part numbers based on the tractor’s serial number. Then I searched for one of them and Messicks converted it to a similar number as yours.
Yours seems to be for larger engines

The one I found mentions the L175

I think you should get Messicks or your local dealer look for the correct one so they will need to have the serial number or they may end up having two numbers to choose from without the serial number.
Good luck, I am glad that part is coming available again!Thank you for all your help! i will call Messicks.
Absolutely will do!Good luck, I am glad that part is coming available again!
Please post back with what you find out.
If you don’t mind asking Messicks about why the part number starts with a different type of sequence than most of the Kubota part numbers.
