Going to sell my M9960 ROPS (no DEF) before relocating about 1,600 miles further west in Spring or early Summer.

Tractor is ROPS but has just about every available option aside from cab and has 143 hours.

Equivalent new tractor from Kubota as of Dec 2023 will cost over $85K and will require DEF.

Potential buyer now offering cash nearly what I paid for my M9960 in Dec 2015.

Kubota has just announced yet another price increase (3%, this time) effective 01/01/24. Expect yet another price increase around 04/01/24.

Tractors sell better in Spring and bring more money.

No urgency to sell now but will have time crunch in early spring before moving.

Wondering what no DEF commands in market....

Dilemmas, dilemmas.

Is the cost of shipping it more or less than the cost to change machine? Surely shipping would make more sense? A 143 hour machine will be hard to find elsewhere, and knowing how it's been treated is worth a lot (unless you know you've treated it bad).

143 hrs isn't a lot. If it has the features you want, I'd probably lean toward keeping it. But, you could try putting it up for sale for "too" much and see if anyone bites.

Two Kubota price increases expected over a period of only 3 days?
Ouch!

If it is what you want for a tractor, I would ship it. 143 hrs is nothing, you're not even to your second service.

Appreciate all the responses regarding shipping but at 74, I'm downsizing, and expect to have no more than one acre in MT. Maybe a ZT???

Accordingly, all 5 of my Kubotas as well as just about everything else will be sold.

Will buy just about everything new once relocated but will have no need for Kubotas other than, perhaps, a ZT.

Ah, that makes more sense. One acre is enough for a B2601 though. Good to mow with, and for those small household chores. Not to mention helping out the neighbours.

A pre-emissions tractor can be worth more, there are plenty of people who don't want the electronics and things that can go wrong. With very low hours on it, it'll be worth quite a bit. It would suit in some sense a new buyer who wants lots of HP but doesn't want emissions. No harm in starting high and then seeing who wants it. Like a reverse auction. Drop the price $1K every two weeks until someone takes it off your hands.

MT is "Big Sky Country"
1 acre is a mighty small piece of "Big Sky Country"!

Just get what you can for it now and look for an appropriately sized SCUT or ZT or both when you get moved in. You wont need to mow until the Spring anyway!

You must be one of those undocumented aliens. Where do you keep your flying saucer in the winter?
Check it out!
Day/Month/Year...... throughout most of the world.
Think about it.
It is a normal inline time progression!

Be careful if you make a foreign hotel reservation.
You just might show up in the wrong month.

The USA uses lbs., gallons, and inches, too, but other than the Brits and Aussies, most others do not!

A nice B or LX with the right snow handling ability will work great for you, unless your lucky enough to head south every winter. ;)

Agreed.

I've considered the LX as well as a ZTR. Will need to remove snow as well as mow and would love to have a new LX4020, which I do not need, but like. Very pricey, though.

Probably should just take my B1750 with MMM, powered crass catcher, tire chains, etc., with me. It has been flawless since I bought it 30 years ago in 1993 and has only 660 hours on the clock. Probably will not haul it 1,600 miles, though it will be tough to let it go. It has proven to be the very best major purchase that I have ever made. Would consider taking it with me if it had a cab but will want a cab for snow removal duty in MT. I'm not accustomed to MT/ID winters as are you.
