3 point won't lift after fluid change

I've searched the manual and can't find the answer... certainly appreciate any help here!

L2350 ( no loader)
> 3 point was working fine.
> drain & fill transmission/ hydraulic fluid.

Start tractor... 3 point lowered but won't raise. Is there air to bleed?

No air to bleed - how long did you run it? At idle for a while would be best.

Start the tractor and allow it to run - 10 minutes later see if it will raise 3 point.

I ran it for about 30 minutes to get the engine up to operating temp (letting air out of the coolant system.) I read somewhere (after the fact) to engage the PTO.

Thanks. I found that one in an earlier search. Filter is new, fluid is new (and full). It's 55° outside, so no ice. Maybe the pump needs priming?

I suppose the knob that adjusts the rate of the that point lift decent below the seat in the center isn’t adjusted at the way tight (slow)?

I tried adjusting that too... Still didn't lift.

Sounds like your pump has lost prime and is not pumping. Suction side vacuum leak or clogged filter are possible causes. If it was working before you serviced it I would suspect something related to that service has caused the problem.

How do I re-prime the pump?

it drives fine, loader works, steering OK ???
ONLY the 3PH that doesn't work ??

if ONLY the 3PH, maybe it's lever is not mechanically engaging ? Some silly clip fell out,and lever doesn't move a rod to make the 3PH operate ?

I'm changing tires now, so the front end is on jack stands, and I can't drive it.

Can we safely assume the selector on the hydraulic oitlet block has not been moved to the loader position?

Looking at the parts diagram it appears the inlet filter is mounted directly on the underside of the single section pump (intake port). Kind of limits things.

First thing is to verify pump is not pumping. Disconnect pump supply pipe from hdraulic outlet block and put a bucket under the end of thr pipe. Start tractor and verify no pump output.

Remove filter and fill with new oil. Lube gasket and double check sealing surfaces when reinstalling.

Remove outlet pipe from top pf pump and pour fresh oil into pump.

Repeat first step to see if pump has primed.

Somewhere, sometime, I saw a filter that had a thin clear plastic sheet over the end, the purpose of which was to keep debris out of the filter until it was installed. Any possible chance your filter had one of these, and you did not remove it before installing the filter?

Just a WAG...but you never know!

Yes I know you said no loader. Just considering the outside chance the selector (part of the block) got moved.

Did you check for fkow at the pump outlet? Just trying to confirm thats the problem.

You were close...

Your comment got me to thinking about the original filter; I thought it was strange that it was bent when I removed it, but figured someone just half-a$$ed it and didn't seat it correctly.

When I installed the new one (the same direction as the old one), I thought it was odd for the spring to be seated the way it was, but I didn't give it too much thought.

Yep, it was in backwards. With the original (bent) filter, fluid was moving around the filter and not through it. When I seated the new one correctly, it cut off the flow of fluid.

I just pulled it, reversed it, and now we're up and running again. Thanks for all of the input!
