How do I know what Injector System I have on my 1999 L2500, with a 3 cylinder D1403 engine? Is it a CRDI (Common Rail Diesel Injector), Direct, Indirect or something else I never heard of? I'm so confused it ain't funny. I've attached some pics of my injectors if that helps.

The exact answer can be found stamped to the block just to the side of the injection pump facing up.

There are a LOT of knock off Injectors out there and most are junk.
Spend a little more and get a good set.

Would that be this number in the pic I've attached? I thought this number was just the engine / date code.

I'm trying to determine if one of my injectors is not working properly. The closest place to have them checked/tested is 30 miles away and they want $50 per injector to test them. I was going to buy a tester online for under $100 and test them myself. The tester information states is doesn't work for CRDI injectors. I know they are working but I don't know at what PSI that are opening/popping or if the spray pattern is correct. I have an engine knock that developed and I'm trying to eliminate the injectors.

Here's a link to the tester in case you're curious.

Yes that's the engine type and serial number.
D1402 IDI engine
While the tester will give you pop pressure it won't do much else for you.
You can easily see the spray pattern by hooking up an injector off to the side of the engine.
Use a piece of cardboard to see it NOT any part of your body!

I appreciate your feedback. Gotcha on the body parts!
