Labelled Ferguson, wouldn't that pre-date any of the N-series, back in the Ford-Ferguson TO-xx days? Those had British lineage back then?

As I recall, 9N was 1939, then 2N, and 8N was last. Don't recall when 2N and 8N came, but seems series was done by early 1950's?

Were they all just "Fords" from 1939-and on?

Not saying it's not compatible with the 2N.

I did the Google thing for 6P-EO-21, and got a Ford Ferguson tractor auction listing.

Nope.. the 9N and 2N used and advertised the Ferguson System up until the introduction of the 8N.

Ferguson had the implement side of the Ford-Ferguson joint venture starting in 1939 and they were common on the N-series.

Harry Ferguson split off and started manufacturing the TO series when Henry died and Edsel pulled the plug on the handshake agreement.

Wow - - @ken erickson and @TheOldHokie - - it looked like an implement bracket - - but I would never have guessed a sickle mower...if it did indeed fit a 2N.

9N starts in 1939
2N starts in 1942

Ford renamed the 9n to the 2n for tax evasion during ww2. They also changed paint color to solid gray and went to steel wheels to conserve rubber for the war effort. They also went to hand crank start for the same reason. Least thats what I've read. Other than that the only real difference was a small cooling system upgrade. Most of the 2s have since been fitted with standard tires and electric start though since then.

Then they renamed again to the 8n to set it apart from the other two with a design overhaul. Better brakes, 4 spd trans vs 3spd, more hp, and position control. Also a paint job change to set it apart more. The late 8n tractors also relocated the distributor making service easier making them the most desireable of the 3.

Ferguson pioneered the 3pt "safety" hitch. Which the N tractors made famous. However in typical Ford style, he screwed him. So Ferguson split off on his own building tractors which where nearly identical to the old Ns but with british engines and more features like a hinged hood in an attempt to send Ford packing. Those are TO series tractors. I have both a 2n and a TO20.
