Red heating oil $3.79 Works well in my tractor
Isn't heating oil also referred to as #2 diesel?

Can you elaborate?

With the heavy sulfur content, the contaminants in heating oil can harm the vehicle or equipment.

it'd only hurt diesels needing 'low sulphur'.....
and..
putting ULSulpur fuel IN an old engine can harm it ..

Heating oil is now also ultra low sulfur, no high sulfur fuel is allowed.

Think in paid 4.50 (ish) a gallon today at the local mobil for ORD. that may seem high (it is welcome to orange county Ny.) But since I haven't bought diesel for the tractor since May and I only get about 5 gallons at a time I'm not too upset about it. Thankfully the little B sips fuel like no other. The 23 hpgas kawasaki on the Zt that's a different story but alas that is a fuel hungry beast and is efficient at what it does. Gas for the car today was 3.49 at the local stewarts

Just my $0.02 here.... I don't care what the price of fuel is because I use so little of it. The F350 just gets used when I need to tow or haul stuff. Have a Chevy Volt for the daily My Zero turn holds more gas than it. And also uses more gas in a year to mow the lawn than the Volt burns in a year. Costs me on average 4 cents a mile between gas and electricity combined for the Volt over the last 5 years.
The money I save with that goes to the race car to have fun at the track...

Gasoline is running about $3.40, road diesel about $4.50.

I’m hearing home heating oil about $4.50. We just paid $4.54 a gallon for propane.

Propane is THAT high? Were just filling a small tank for a cooker? I paid $1.49 for a summer fill probably 4 months ago, and contract price was $1.79!

At $4.54 a gallon I'd be going back to heating with wood. Hedge (Osage Orange) is about $275 a full cord and take 4 cords for a winter.

That wasn't me, that was @NorthwoodsLife taking a break.

Management won't let me take a time out!
I'm glad you came back to explain that comment. I went back through that thread to see what I missed and realized someone probably had their I's crossed and T's dotted in a fit of dyslexia. Glad you're still around and in charge!!!!

If ( WHEN ) that iceland Volcano/rift opens up, the price for fossil fuels will go skyhigh ! The greenies will buy it to keep their homes warm !

diesel's already up 9c per L here in Hamilton ( 36c/US gallon)
It's supply and demand problem. When demand is up, price goes up. When supply goes up, price goes up. Economics doesn't lie.

Woe is me!

In the summer of 2020 I had repaired and filled my bulk fuel tanks Here. Both a 300 and 200 gallon tank for a total of 500 gallons. The price at that time: $1.34 per gallon as the bulk truck left the yard.

I usually keep about 20 to 25 gallons of diesel in the heated shed for winter duties. Yesterday, just when the 4th jug was almost filled, the stream of red gold stopped. Apparently, all good things must come to an end. It had to happen sometime. 😭

Will probably fill up one of the two bulk tanks sometime towards spring if/when prices drop some more.

The $1.34 per gallon diesel was awful nice while it lasted!
