Perhaps an M5-091. No HST on one of them either, they have a shuttle. HST isn't that common on larger tractors.

9000 used primarily for bush hog work, of which there is plenty. Would be great to more easily mow in reverse w/o excessive clutch work (my knee won't take much more as the years go by). HST on the 3901 w/ 4' JD bush hog is great for the tighter areas., but keeping the field edges back to fence line w/o any more cattle needs the bigger machiunce. Since no more haying 105 is overkill and will be sold.

The biggest hydro, is the L6060. But for mostly mower I would think a hyd shuttle would be a better choice.

Pardon my ignorance, but pls explain the diff. btw hyd shuttle and HST. HST on 3901 is speedy, no lever gear shifting (Fwd/Rev), great for repetitive back/forth maneuvering.

If you can get by with about 52 PTO HP, consider the MX6000.

HST uses a variable displacement pump, so you can go continuously from full forward to full reverse, within the gear range, without using the clutch. Clutch is required to shift between ranges, while stopped.

Hydraulic shuttle is a gear transmission with two hydraulic clutches, forward and reverse. The shift lever shifts a selector valve with neutral in between. The foot clutch just controls a pressure regulator and valve. The main transmission gears are synchronized and can be shifted on-the-go, with the clutch. I think the shuttle control in neutral is acceptable for shifts, but it makes for a two-handed operation. There are usually 3 gear ranges that require the tractor to be stopped to shift.

I have used an M7040 with hyd shuttle to mow and it's definitely handier than a conventional gear job for backing into fence corners, etc. but I'm sure not as convenient as HST would be. (I was using the foot clutch to ease the last few feet.)

Your physical issue might be the antagonist to this point…but the gear-driven M9000 being used mostly for mowing/shredding will run cooler using less fuel and last longer than any HST in the same service. I use my (gear) tractor 99% for the same type service using less than 2 gph while my neighbor using a similar-sized/hp HST tractor uses almost twice that amount, and has suffered HST issues despite his tractor being a much newer model. (I know…I know… not an actual controlled-experiment…but it’s a valid point.)

HST is a hydrostatic transmission. Continuously variable, plus usually a range selector.

A shuttle is just a switch between forward and reverse without using the clutch. So you pull it into neutral, then into reverse. You really want to use the brakes to stop or let it come to a stop naturally, it's hard on the clutch pack using the clutches to stop it.

It's pretty common on larger tractors, and works well. If your main problem is reversing, then it solves that. It doesn't give you continuously variable speed. But an HST is a bit of a pain for mowing in that you have to hold your foot on the pedal even to hold a constant speed (yes, you can get a cruise, but not quite the same). A gear drive holds a constant speed without your leg (and knee) getting a workout.

I would argue that the MX6000 is the largest HST in the Kubota lineup.

No one makes a HST tractor in that HP range these days.

If you need 90+ HP you will need to investigate gear drive tractdors.
or CVT

The mx6000 has 63.4 engine, 51.8pto hp. L6060 has 62 engine, 53 pto. You would never notice that slight bit of different, engine or pto.

To me there are 3 contenders in the line up for ‘biggest HST’’…(i sort of read or thought size) and I think really depends on what ‘biggest’ means….m62 to me is the heaviest, then L6060, then the MX. that being said I think the L and MX are similar in capabilities but fairly different in terms of features and price… the M62 is a whole different animal in my opinion with way more capability…not sure that would make sense for the OP mowing uses though. I believe all three have different eng, net, and PTO hp ratings, so depending on which criteria it’s a toss up on ‘biggest’. I am clearly not biased or anything but MX is the correct choice 🤪. Just kidding I’d be happy with any or all of the three.

No hst for the M6060. It does have a whisker bit more engine and pto power, but only 8x8, 12x12, and hydraulic shuttle for transmissions.

I think I referenced the TLB (m62) not the ag machine.

The MX tractor itself is most robust with wheels and axles. Closer to a utility tractor than a L.

Won't find a 90-100 HP M9000 sized CVT.
