Good day. Those are some great photos. That must be a treat to live amongst those majestic animals. What do you (or other locals) do, if anything with the buglers?

I was lucky enough to go on an elk hunt once and even luckier to harvest a small herd bull…I cut the buglers out and had some jewelry made for my spousal unit…I was not sure what to do but wanted to do something…it was the least I could do since I went on a hunting trip with out her on our anniversary🥶…true story I actually harvested the animal on our anniversary date. Anyway I wonder what you / others do with the ivories?
Nice elk you have there. I don't do anything with the ivories but I do get the nicer bulls or bucks mounted.

I was at a customer/ friend's place this week.
He's a taxidermist. Retiring now.
Sick of UPS costs and waiting for his money for months once something is completed. He loves the craft. Hates the BS of people and UPS workers that make $100,k a year.
Here is some maine bucks.

Never had this happened before, LOL
I have 2 hogs lined up and ready to take a shot. The feeder is 137yds from the porch, using sub 300BO suppressed, it takes less than half second to hit the hog. The hogs are moving around like ants, I line up and make the shot, a head from one them must had moved into the bullet path. I'm thinking that the round ricocheted off a hog head, the hog ran with his head on the ground for like 15ft, then he just lifts his head up and takes off running. LOL I heard the bullet dangerously zing off into the distance. I'll look in the morning to see if I find my hog with a headache, LOL!

Day light view of my feeder from the porch.

I sighted my Win 670 30-06 yesterday on my 100 yard range yesterday before we stated the tractor work day and then checked some trail cams.

The nice buck with the 3 shot series was taken with the WI DNR Snapshot camera. I am fortunate to host the camera. Snapshot Wi is great program and I would encourage any of OTT Wisconsin land owners to look into the possibility of hosting one also. I will supply a link to the site.

snapshot

I also keep about 5 or so operating cameras of my own scattered around, It's an addiction I tell you! lol.

Cool!

Wish we could get some decent rain down here South Tx, those green colors is worth fighting over.
They were messing up the radishes and turnips pretty good. That’s crop damage, ain’t it?

Shot two more piglets off the porch last night. One expired on a neighboring property. I had like 4 lined up, only hit 2.

Currently there is 1 big boar, 2 seperate sounders are visiting almost nightly, est. around 33 hogs in total.
Damn I need a trap built & going!!

Damn - -

In my younger days I did about 100 woodchucks/ground hogs (Marmota monax) per year. Varmints to dairy farmers here.

But for their burrows in fields or pastures, nothing like the damage those hogs do.

In recent years, thought I'd like popping some pigs. I've got a Remington Model 700 Varmint Special in .22-250 that can do the job.....

We had a short stint of wild hogs even in Upstate New York when some Russian hogs escaped from a nearby Hunting Preserve. Guy got a 375 pound boar while deer hunting in the snow...

Probably foolish question, but these are likely domestic pigs that have gotten loose, then reverted to their Russian Boar ancestry, or are they of Javelina ancestry?

Dang.

Yeah the hogs are miniature bull dozers or backhoes, very destructive.

I'm pretty sure I read something recently that there were wild hogs all the way in New Hampshire now.

Yup, escaped Russian/European hogs 100 years ago here in Texas.
