From what I understand is that domestic pigs will transition back to their Russian/European roots when they procreate in the wild.

I’d like to shoot a bunch, but seldom leave my home county due to work obligations. 😖

A buddy and I worked up to shoot prairie dogs out west the early-80’s but life took us both in other directions.

I had to chuckle when I downloaded this trail cam video. Last week friday, 11-3, I was showing my young helper how to check and deal with the Snapshot Wisconsin trail camera. He was crouched down on the drivers side of my Jeep, I was sitting in my Jeep giving him advice and directions.

Today I checked this camera, one of my own, this spot has a lot of wildlife activity, and pulled this video. Reminds me of the cartoons with the guy sleeping, sitting on his deer stand, with a 12 point buck standing 10 feet away looking at him! lol.

Shot two more piglets off the porch last night. One expired on a neighboring property. I had like 4 lined up, only hit 2.

Currently there is 1 big boar, 2 seperate sounders are visiting almost nightly, est. around 33 hogs in total.
Damn I need a trap built & going!!
BACON!!!!!

Find a couple buddies, night vision scopes and ARs. Make it an all nighter for a few days. Bacon for all... for a year. And for relatives too.

Probably foolish question, but these are likely domestic pigs that have gotten loose, then reverted to their Russian Boar ancestry, or are they of Javelina ancestry?
Domestic pigs will revert to a more feral condition over a few generations in the wild (an escaped domestic will always keep its appearance for its lifetime). While there are a 'few' preserves with pure bred 'Russian' boars/swine, they are few and far between (in the U.S.)

Most feral/wild hogs are actually descendants of Spanish domestic hogs brought over in the early 1500's.

Certainly not any descendants of Javelina which are Peccary (not pigs) and of a different family.

However, unscrupulous people have been illegally transporting feral hogs from other States to areas without hogs and releasing them. A real problem. Believe me.....you DON'T want feral hogs.

We drove into SA for a nice dinner and on the return trip home at 65mph, a big ass 8 or 10pt buck wanted to play frogger. This happened with the Laundry Fairy's Lexus LX 570(Toyota Land Cruiser) suv. Boy this is not going to be a cheap fix. Other motorists I guess called 911 cause the buck died in the center of the road.

Back when I was still working, I was headed out about this time of year to a mine and had to stop. 2 big boys were dueling it out in the middle of the highway ,right by a big apple orchard we have up here.
They had traffic tied up for about 10 min,, I would have taken either of them, and as far as I know no one got them in the orchard or any farms around. I hope they got as many does as they could find ;)

Thats the 4th one in 4 years in a row, lol

First one hit my equipment trailer, it was loaded down, nothing but a small dent on some thick metal of the frame, with blood and hair everywhere, she hit in the tonge of the trailer area and went under, pulverized the deer, felt like a speed bump at 65 to 70mph.

2nd one, a fawn ran right into front wheel well, small dent in qrt panel, pop back out with plunger.

3rd one, was in the beginning of town (Kenedy, Tx) 50mph speed zone, just went through the traffic light and a doe ran from hotel parking lot headed across the street to Walmart. Front end collision, dented factory bumper, broke out some plastic trim pieces and 1 fog light broken. I told the responding officer on scene, she didn't use the crosswalk!! lol

4th, last night.

Yep, won't be inexpensive to fix. My 'Laundry Fairy' hit one (a Doe) last year with her LX470 at only 50 mph and it was over $3,000 to replace the front bumper, fog light and a bracket underneath.

I told her she needs one of the offroad bumpers that they sell for the LX's.

I had an '80's Ford Ranger pickup. Bought new - - 1986(?) and $6,200 - first new truck I bought.

Got first deer 6 days later - - I think I got 6 total with that truck over 6-7 years and 150k miles...

Friggin thing was a deer/turkey/ruffed grouse magnet. Put more venison, etc. in the freezer than any single gun I've owned.

Now I'm going to jinx myself....haven't hit a deer since....

I am going to put one on my Wife's LX after I do a few things to my Land Cruiser.

'Iron Man' makes one for my LX470:

And here is one for your LX570:

Might be the difference between minimal damage and totaling your vehicle next time.

We have a LOT of deer/vehicle collisions where I live. Sounds like you do to.

Nice! We have a lot in common, lol
You need to go on one our Overlanding trips.

I think were looking at Big bend ranch, spring 2024, but not during spring break.

Today was Wisconsin's opening day of rifle season. I know everyone likes seeing big buck pictures but today for me turned out the day to put a large mature doe in the freezer. Wi , in my zone, includes 2 antlerless tags with the purchase of a rifle buck tag. I have the rest of the week now to look for that nice buck :). It was warm , for rifle season, with a high of 51 or 51 F. A gorgeous day to be out on the land for sure!

A few pictures of my view from my box blind. The blue arrow denotes the spot the doe was when harvested. 99 yards according to my BIL's range finder.
