Tearing down the engine in my l185dt and when I pulled the head there was a mystery ball bearing. No clue where it came from and where it goes nothing obvious figure it goes in an oil passage of some sort.
What is the approx size? 1/8" or ????Tearing down the engine in my l185dt and when I pulled the head there was a mystery ball bearing. No clue where it came from and where it goes nothing obvious figure it goes in an oil passage of some sort.
1/8 or 3/16 don't have it in hand right now but would say its under 1/4 for sureWhat is the approx size? 1/8" or ????
Was sitting on top of the piston when I got the head offhmm.. WHERE was it ? On the top of the head, just sitting there ?? Is the oil fill cap there ? Some 'prankster' ?? Only ball bearings I can think of would be a) oil pump relief valve or b) used to plug a passageway
it'll be nice to KNOW where it came from....!!!!
IF it didn't fall onto the piston top from somewhere else when you removed the head....then something is VERY, VERY wrong. Was sitting on top of the piston when I got the head off
Is it possible it came out of a ratchet, breaker bar, or extension? the socket retainer one is about that size.IF it didn't fall onto the piston top from somewhere else when you removed the head....then something is VERY, VERY wrong.
I don't think so but it could have gotten on top of the engine and fell in. There was no damage to anything so they weren't inside the engine when it was running. I will just go on with putting the engine back together. Thought it might have been a berry from a tree but its for sure steelIs it possible it came out of a ratchet, breaker bar, or extension? the socket retainer one is about that size.
Just a thought as I have had a couple come out at a bad time over the years.
