I was given permission to brew a batch of home brew today, but something I’ve been watching for several years interceded.
This 70+ foot tall pine had a huge cat face right at the ground when I bought this place in 2004. After wondering when it was coming down for nearly 20 years, I got my answer last night. It broke a large limb in a big red oak, so first order of business was to pull down the widow maker before I even thought about working on the pine. Threw a line up in the oak limb and pulled it down with a rope and clevis using the Bolt-on D-rings I installed in the bottom of my bucket right after I got the tractor in 2021. I cut 5 12+ foot logs out of the pine and about 1/4 cord of firewood from the oak, then chipped the pine top and small oak limbs with the WC-68. The LX2610 barely noticed 5” diameter green pine in the chipper. Got it all cleaned up in a day, knowing it would have taken me at least 3 days if I didn’t have the LX.
Gonna buy a little Alaska Saw Mill and cut the logs up to build “Cluckingham Palace next spring.
