Lock the lever when you're not using the loader.

Not every time, but like if it's on the tractor and you're mowing or running (and paying attention to) any number of rear mounted implements, especially on the move. And always on the road/highway! Raise it up a foot at least and lock that lever.

I've turned in my seat in heavy winter gear to watch operating the box scraper and my knee-to-lever unnoticed brought me to a strained stop when the bucket got dumped and the lead edge caught the ground, on the move. Not nice for the loader hydraulics either!

If you wanna get a real lesson on "what things do" let your grandson play on the tractor for a couple of hours.

You will be amazed at the the things he will push-pull-twist and reset.

Thats exactly how I found out what that lever does.....;)

Whenever I park I put down my 3pt and bucket and lock it. I don't need a kid accidentally dropping those things on another kid.

+1 (y) Me too

Edit: well I don't lock the bucket, I just make sure bucket is on the ground and BH locked.

yup, what I do too. Took me awhile to get the habit, but after almost 50 hours now, it’s a habit to drop everything when I park it. Don’t lock it though, since there isn’t anywhere for it to go!
