I have a 2019 L3901, garage kept with 144 engine hours and dash instrument is displaying a trouble code P0087 common rail low fuel pressure code. Is the fix as simple as cleaning the fuel system and replacing the fuel filter? I use off road diesel and a diesel fuel additive for the last couple of years. Suggestions would be appreciated.

clean the separator, replace the spin on filter and hope and pray that it does the trick. While you have the separator off check for good flow, to eliminate a fuel tank blockage issue.

P0087 can be caused by several things. A lot of times it's just a matter of changing filters. Sometimes it's injector related.

Hello, I am happy to report that after changing the fuel filter and screen inside the water seperator, I was able to get my tractor running again. I still need to reset the P0087 trouble code and will do that this weekend. The Local Kubota dealer shared with me the procedure for resetting this particular code. I wanted to run the tractor for a couple of hours to see if the code will reset itself. I understand the ECU will reset the code if everything is ok after an hour's run time. I would like to share that the Kubota dealer recommended to me to use K100 diesel fuel additive to my fuel to prevent black algae from forming in the fuel tank and moisture seperator. Tractor is running fine now. Thanks for all the tips everyone!

Have you tried reading your owners manual? It tells you a lot about what maintenance you need to do for your tractor and how to do it. By now, you should have done engine oil and hydraulic service, plus air and fuel.

My 2019 L3901HST (49 hours) is in the Kubota shop right now for its 50 hour servicing and for the P0087 trouble code. After I had cleaned the water separator and changed the fuel filter, I had thought rodents could have chewed a wire but the Kubota service manger is telling me he could not find any wiring damage so he had removed the rail and cleaned it but still could not get rid of the code.

I just learned that it now appears that the fuel rail may be the problem and has to be replaced (about $1,600). Luckily, my warranty is covering the rail and code problems. Fingers crossed. . .

UPDATE: My problem still persists after fuel rail was changed out. One should note that only two codes were showing on the dashboard when the tractor was taken to the shop, e.g., P0087 and P2294 but 3 codes were found to be stored. Kubota shop manager now thinks it may be a problem with the ECU (one of the two onboard controllers?) due to known problems with it on this particular tractor.

I will update here whenever the problem is resolved.

As an owner of a new (3 year old) L3901 I will be following closely.

Yep. Luckily my regular Kubota warranties covered the fuel rail work but I'm hoping my Kubota 5-year extended warranty covers the controllers, or whatever it proves to be.

And yes. I hate it when someone offers an online problem but never follows up their post with the eventual solution. I will let everyone here know what my final fix is; that is God willing and the creek don't rise. ;);)

I think think all of that would be covered under the drive train and emissions system warranties.

The shop seems to have had some problem even getting the fuel rail work covered under the normal emission warranty. It seems my extended warranty wasn't showing up with the serial number. I'm hoping we now have all that straightened out but I guess we'll see.

Difficulty getting corporate approval is one thing but coverage of fuel delivery and injection components is clearly enumerated in the emissions warranty.

I hope so but I'll let you know if it becomes a battle.

I usually don't buy extra insurance on anything anymore unless it's required by law but I'm glad I did this time. :)

I am of a similar mindset but I did think twice when I bought my tractor. In the end I passed....
