I recently had a request for a set of stabilizers for an MX5100, but I didn't have large enough material, and hadn't worked on such a large set. I have since gotten some 2 1/2"x1 1/2" rectangular tubing and 7/8" x 2" flat bar. I have a friend with a John Deere 5300, which has turnbuckles. So, I made a set today for his tractor, as a guinea pig. I think they will hold- they are much more substantial than the factory turnbuckles, which have held up fine.
In the photos are a medium size stabilizer, which would work on a tractor up to about 30 hp, the unpainted extra large stabilizer for the JD, and one of my factory turnbuckles off of my B7100, for size comparison.
